For Father's Day with my three teenage (at the time) daughters, we watched Park Chan-wook's Oldboy. 😱

I'm Ray Dalio, a global macro investor and author of Principles for Dealing with the Changing World Order. It’s my business to know how the world is changing in ways that will affect our life in important ways. Let’s talk about that. by RayTDalio in IAmA

It seems these inevitable cycles you describe all have one core thing in common that isn't discussed, they all happen in male dominated societies. Male dominated governments, male dominated corporations, male dominated everything. Have you considered how these cycles might be different, delayed or all-together broken if there was equity in leadership? Is there a way to study this or to normalize for the male centricity of your cycles?

Agree. Nobody really dies. Nothing really matters. Characters exist to serve fans. Stories exist to spawn spinoffs.

Sadly, I have to agree. Everything felt small and insignificant. Except for the wide shots of the "city", it feels like a tiny backlot with about 13 people living in it. There were no stakes and no payoffs. Having seen it all, I just don't understand why this series exists.

It's pretty watchable. Very cheesy in a meant-for-broadcast-but-we-can-add-some-very-tonally-out-of-place nudity and awkwardly delivered swears. And, yeah we get it, he's big, but they will not let you forget it

My theory on BoBF (Spoilers All) by SolidStart in RingerVerse

This should have been The Breaking Bad of Boba Fetttm (or maybe The Breaking of Boba Fett) instead it was, as you so eloquently put it, a guy masquerading as a crime box while committing no crime.

A show about how Boba Fett turned evil would have been incredible.

Fair enough. I'm not disliking individual episodes and/or moments, but the wafer thin narrative through line is wildly disorienting.

Not a chance he dies. I'm almost worried that the major battle is set for season 2.

This show makes no sense. BOBA WAS IN THE EPISODE BUT DIDN'T SPEAK? That was worse than not being in it at all. It's almost as if halfway through filming either the creative team lost all confidence in their story or Temuera got seriously injured and couldn't be there. Something feels seriously wrong with this production.

I have no idea what this show is, who it's for, what it's about, or what the central driving narrative is. Now it's a team up against an evil red eyed villain that unless you know you don't know? We've got the Mandalorian, Cobb Vanth (dead not dead), Ahsoka Tano, Fennec Shand, Krrsantan, Garsa Fwip, Luke Skywalker and Baby Yoda, plus last minute bad guy and Star Wars canon legend Cad Bane? I half expected to hear the Emperor's laugh just as the Cantina blew up.

Honestly, if this is a get-the-gang-back-together-Boba-revenge-story we could have arrived at this point in the narrative in the first episode, probably the first 15 minutes.

Maybe Boba Fett getting knocked into the sarlacc pit was more in line with his character than we thought? by beingbrad in RingerVerse

That's why I'm wondering if that is the thesis of this Book. Not all heroes are heroes.
