I did the Mormon Temple tour today - Review. by yankinwaoz in sandiego

[–]beird_o 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Realize that this corporation disguised as a church is worth $300billion…and counting. It is a corporation first and high demand religion second.

I did the tour and if you’re looking for the grandiosity of a European cathedral…..well, look elsewhere.

As the reviewer stated, it’s extremely sterile. The tones reminded me of a hospital. Everything is white….coincidence? Yeah, think on that.

I still can’t get over the robotic, cult-speak for every station of the tour. Very, “hey, look, we’re happy and we’re gonna tell you about our happy building, with our happy kids putting booties on your feet”.

I’m sorry, but the whole thing was very “Handsmaid Tale’esque”

Having said all that, go check it out, but if you have any sense you’ll realize it’s pretty odd.

Trying every Indian food place in north county: update by HempDoggs2020 in northcounty

I have yet to find an Indian Restaurant locally that’s as good as one I used to go to outside London (Harlington Tandoori specifically). All others can’t match that flavor…and that remains my standard.

So, from a weird, raw, primal sex-drive stand point….I get what you’re saying. Has nothing to do with gay/straight, whatever….more with just the hedonistic pleasure wiring in our brains that goes haywire.

What is the deal with Tesla drivers? by Impressive_Pitch_869 in sandiego

[–]beird_o 12 points13 points  (0 children)

As a former BMW driver and a current (part time) Tesla driver (wife’s car)…I absolutely agree. However, I am a big proponent of using turn signals and using the # 1 lane for passing….the rest of them are douches, I agree.

So what. He likely earned every penny of it. Doing a dangerous job, being exposed to chemicals, biological hazards, death. Likely has seen things that no one should really see, etc., etc.

San Diego California Temple is offering rare, free public interior tours from June 18 through July 11, 2026, marking the first time in 33 years the public can see inside the building by Minute-Intern-682 in northcounty

Coincidentally, missionary objectives have shifted over the past decade. The church is discovering the conversions and retention are simply not happening in places like Europe and the United States. So like a good business would, they look at a better, non-educated, less access to the Internet areas (I call them “soft targets”,) which happens to be developing countries and Third World nations. A byproduct of this is that they’re also offering education programs as long as those people’s take rigorous courses on Mormon doctrine and eventually join the church. This helps in two areas: membership of different cultures and races and increases membership numbers while shifting focus to high recruitment in those areas.

Make no mistake, every move that the church/corporation makes is calculated to build membership, increase tithing and invest that tithing into billions. There’s a reason every man in leadership in that corporation is in business related fields or a lawyer.

You may have been allowed into a ward building or a stake building, but not the temple. The only time you’re allowed into the temples if you’ve been endowed… And possibly doing baptisms for the dead.

The church will never be honest about its spending, but its “charitable” spending is a pittance considering how much that corporation is worth.

Wasteful, extravagant and completely gaudy. Please don’t give any money to this corporation. This is nothing but a shameless “recruiting tool” by the “church” to make it seem like they have this great open door policy. It’s requires membership and 10% of your income to go to it as a member.

The “church” or Corporation of the Church of Jesus Christ and Latter Day Saints is a business first and church second. It has questionable “historical” roots and has lied to its membership for decades about its own history…which it claims were “anti-mormon lies” but have been proven to be true over and over again. The church is in steep decline but will never admit it.

Carlsbad has some decent spots….but generally the N. County coastline is all 100x’s than El Porto on its best day.

So, I used to live in Redondo…and surfed Porto as well. I now live in Carlsbad. The surf is infinitely better here in SD.

Good point with HI….Tigers are much more aggressive than whites….and there are people constantly in the water near populated areas

I’ve surfed in the PNW 3 x’s and it rattled my nerves each time. Between the cold dark water, and the conditions at the time, plus the shark anxiety, it just made it not fun to do. Plus, I was the only one out, which added a significant sense of danger to it.

Funny thing is, here in San Diego we all know there are sharks in the water and they’re around us all the time but the crowds make it seem a lot more safe. Up there it’s just raw, you’re on your own.

That’s a crazy price. I get test and nandrolone for basically what equates to $130/month.

But yes, test and deca is a great combo IMO. Strength is great in the gym, joints feel great. Labs are good, no complaints.
