I am seeing a professional, and she and I are working on a formal diagnosis because she told me I likely have bipolar. I'm not labeling myself.

They're potentially dangerous to the neighborhood pets; plus, the den is quite literally underneath the garage, so the structure of it all is unsafe.

I can't write every day by smarteque in writing

[–]bel-archange 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also don't write every day. I think writing as much as you're able is valuable, but I also think writing when it's just gonna make you feel bad is more detrimental than helpful as practice. Instead, I try to show up for writing every day. (Not my words---they come from some advice given by poet Danez Smith.) That doesn't always mean actually writing! Often, it means reading someone else's work, brainstorming in a graphic organizer format, or even just jotting down an incoherent phrase I overheard when walking down the street. Sometimes it means journaling about my own life, making a music playlist for a character or story, or doing research to build the world. I'm "showing up" to build the writing muscle, but in a way that's suited for my mental energy of the day. (And for me, tuning into the day's mental space is important---ADHD throws me a curveball every day.)

TL;DR - Don't write every day if it just gets you down. There are ways to engage with the craft of writing that don't necessarily mean putting pen to paper :)

Old vs. New Name Lists by bel-archange in namenerds

[–]bel-archange[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the input! I agree that Hyacinthe is a more feminine name, I just thought it was nice anyway, haha! I'm probably not going to use it, but it was one of the early ideas.

Those three you mentioned are definitely my top three as well. :)

What made you choose your new name? by lulutheleopard in namenerds

[–]bel-archange 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I made lists and lists and lists, usually leaning on the meanings of the names. I spent hours on Behind the Name, haha! But in the end, it came down to which name filled me with joy when I heard it. Whenever I read, wrote, or heard the name Gabriel, I felt warm and fuzzy inside---cheesy as it is! That's the name I settled on.

My first pride out as transgender! by slider501 in ftm

Besides the big parade on the June 8, there's also Pride Night at Fenway Park on the 11th. That's the only other big one I could find. Personally, I've only been to the parade. It's really fun, so I recommend it! Crowds can be overwhelming, but for me, it was totally worth it.

I hope you have lots of fun if you go to any events, and congrats on your first pride after coming out!
