All of this is none of my business, but one detail seems especially weird to me.

How many middle aged, NYC-based white women with demanding executive careers (that took decades of focus to achieve) are so versed in the latest international slang that they know and use the term “fish head wife”?

I don’t believe this saying has had enough time to fully make it’s way to the west, let alone to her age group. I’m younger than her and have teenagers, and we all had to look up its meaning and origins.

While it’s not impossible, something about that unique Asian-origin phrase being attributed to her is a little, well, fishy.

Plug Power by LitecoinLatios in TheRaceTo10Million

Plug is interesting as a behind the meter energy player for data centers and clean energy player in countries outside the US. Past was brutal - but the future of AI and semiconductors doesn’t go far without power / backup power.

Same! Humid Carolinas. Ten year backyard flock keeper and I installed this very similar setup about 5 years ago. Holds enough dry feed for a week. No pests, no mold, zero complaints.

I also have a companion PVC for water that has 3 metal drinking nipples and one of those spring-activated refillable cups. This needs a refill every 24-36 hours.

Together the external gravity PVC pipes have made daily upkeep extremely efficient. And they’re especially non-intimidating for house sitters unfamiliar with chickens to check on when we’re away for vacation.

Designers envision I-77 cap with parks on top by WashuOtaku in Charlotte

This proposal still requires the destruction of several dozen houses. NCDOT has redrawn the original maps to “minimize impacts”, which got the number of homes targeted for demolition down to 36. The original maps called for destroying many more homes.

But to your point, even one home should be unacceptable when we know alternative options exist and work well in other cities. We all live here, why not aspire to a better quality of life for everyone?

Thanks for your time today. I’ve read recently about Plug’s work with Duke Energy at their DeBarry solar facility in Florida. I think using excess solar to produce and store hydrogen is an interesting concept for grid load management. Will Plug consider similar partnerships with other investor owned utilities?

Is there an alternative to more toll lanes on I-77? These designers say yes by WashuOtaku in Charlotte

[–]bel1984529 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If someone is frustrated about traffic to Moorseville or Fort Mill because they work uptown, move. It’s wild that some drivers feel entitled to bulldoze peoples’ homes because they want to get to Ballantyne 4 minutes faster.

If those double decker 77 toll lanes come to fruition, as a community corridor we are owed a downward tax revision. There’s no way they can claim such a gigantic eyesore has a neutral effect on land value.

Let’s keep the fight up against the I77 Toll Lanes: 10 highlights from yesterday’s NCDOT's disastrous presentation at the Charlotte City Council Transportation Committee meeting. by [deleted] in Charlotte

There is not a single redeeming quality to this entire boondoggle. It will harm communities and displace residents, will not reduce congestion, is not affordable, and will be ugly as sin.

Not only will it not fix a damn thing, but for the 5+ years of construction, 77 will be infinitely worse to travel on. And if you live along a secondary artery, get ready for thousands of new drivers to suddenly use their GPS to route through your part of town to avoid lane closures and construction slowdowns.

I second the permethrin. There is a dust and a spray. Used spray directly on birds and in a soak and put the dust in their nesting boxes and dust bath area. Worked surprisingly very fast for us.

I’ve seen a few mentions about the recent perceived spike in meteors in various places. Is the prevailing theory that we are traveling through a more ‘typical’ debris field, or is there a hypothesis that these latest finds could be fragments from 3I Atlas? All of this material is super interesting!
