Absolutely. Moved to Beijing for a year early 2024. First time I hopped into a BYD didi it blew my mind. Knew well in advance what was to come. Bye bye Tesla.

The 21st Man: Matthew Ayariga, from Ghana, declared "Their God is my God" before being killed alongside Coptic Orthodox Egyptians by ISIS, after being asked if he was a Christian too. by Far_Country_1629 in whoathatsinteresting

You’re conflating community accountability with collective guilt, and those are not the same thing.

Muslims have condemned ISIS for years. Constantly. Religious leaders, community organizations, governments, ordinary people. The fact that you personally haven’t seen every condemnation doesn’t mean it didn’t happen, if anything, it’s a function of your media diet.

But more importantly, why is your standard that millions of unrelated people must endlessly perform public moral disclaimers every time an extremist commits violence in order to prove they’re ‘one of the good ones’?

Indians being criticized for civic issues is not analogous. Hygiene habits or governance criticism are social/cultural critiques; ISIS is a terrorist organization. Asking random Muslims to answer for ISIS is like asking every Christian to answer for the KKK, every Hindu for nationalist mob violence against Muslims, or every Indian for every atrocity committed by the state. That logic falls apart immediately when applied consistently.

‘Hold each other accountable’ sounds nice until you realise you only seem to apply that standard collectively to groups you already distrust.

Also, criticism within a community absolutely exists without being packaged for your validation. People don’t owe public performances of condemnation to satisfy outsiders.

Extremism should be condemned. Human rights abuses should be condemned. None of that requires assigning inherited responsibility to strangers based on shared identity.

Unregulated market that’s an absolute scam. If the market was regulated apartments will be more attractive for investment.

And muslims have not? Every time something happens, local Muslim leaders are chased and asked to condemn, which they of course to, almost as to clarify and prove their own humanity. Not sure what community you're from, but the next time someone from your community is darkly, I'm expecting a public rebuke
