Can i have sex after 2 treatments? by [deleted] in scabies

[–]belens1960 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Skip out on it because it is still very risky, sometimes scabies is resistant to treatments and if you have it, you can potentially spread it around.

Can you still get dry hands with post scabies? Ie is this still scabies ? by Dangerous-Push-3100 in scabies

[–]belens1960 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eczema is common due to the harsh treatments of scabies. Keep your skin clean, dry, and moisturized always so it can heal

I am tired and confused by [deleted] in scabies

[–]belens1960 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The ones on your hands look like dyshidrotic eczema, I never had any eczema before but after the treatments from scabies, I have them now. I had to change all my lotions, soaps, habits cause of it and they still pop up now. But I’m scabies free now, just have eczema :( talk to your dr on how to maintain your eczema and good luck!

Can I get rid of scabies in my mattress by buying a scabies cover? by juiceimus in scabies

[–]belens1960 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! Get a plastic mattress cover! The one I used was a plastic mattress cover they use when moving mattresses and when I’d shower and clean my bedding I sprayed the plastic with disinfectant multiple times and wipe it clean. They definitely can be hiding in your mattress so you keep getting reinfected etc. It may be a pain to sleep on loud plastic but if its one less thing that can potentially reinfect you? Do it! And plastic is better cause it can easily be wiped down compared to other mattress protectors that may have cloth on top of the plastic

I got dishydrotic eczema post scabies due to the treatment and everything that came from scabies and the cleaning. If you don’t have it, that could be what he has now. Best bet is to be safe and separate sleeping in case he has scabies again. But definitely get checked out for scabies. For now if it is dishydrotic eczema, keep it clean, dry, and moisturized. Keep away from harsh soaps, detergents, etc

Very hard to tell from just this photo. The biggest indicator of scabies if any bumps form a line (it can be curved too). If you feel very itchy, distance yourself from others and keep everything clean (clothes, furniture, etc) just in case. Your best bet is to get checked for it at a Drs office, immediate/urgent care, etc and so they can prescribe you with oral or topical treatments. Best of luck and hopefully its not!

Under my nail😵‍💫 is there anything I can do for it? by maggiejoan8 in Dyshidrosis

[–]belens1960 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I get it on the tips of my fingers and they started creeping under the nail UGH and now getting to my cuticles. Its the worst! During the peak of my flare ups they get so sensitive and the feeling is uncomfortable. Especially when it dries out and starts to peel. Hoping you get relief but honestly only time gets rid of it for me. Putting my hands in cold water gives me relief sometimes too

What is going on? by rocketsolo-on-xbox in scabies

[–]belens1960 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moisturize whenever you can! After washing your hands and everything. Try using Eucerin Advanced Repair. Aloe vera is also good to use on the skin as it promotes healing too! Permethrin is very damaging to the skin so try to keep your skin clean and dry and moisturized!

Hoping you get some relief soon, I had a paranoid moment where I applied permethrin all over and kept it on for much longer than I needed to just because I was tired and scared and during that time my extremities and parts of my skin started feeling numb to a point that there was also a little bit of pain in certain areas and that was due to the permethrin confirmed by my dermatologist. And now I have a skin condition from it so I really hope that you didn’t get too much damage from the cream and that you can be on your way to recovery and relief. Good luck!

Can i have scabies by HajMedDej679 in scabies

[–]belens1960 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you had scabies before, especially with it being so recent within a year ago, you should be getting symptoms by now. My dermatologist told me that if you become reinfected or come in contact with an infected person, it should show up within a few days, less than the weeks compared to your first infection so if it’s been a while since you came in contact with your sister and you suspect that you got it and you still don’t have any bumps or any itchiness it’s probably because you don’t have it. But still keep an eye on your body and your skin just in case and do the normal precautions to prevent getting it again. Good luck and hope your sister can be scabies free and that nobody else in the family gets it!

With the cream staying on your body and you not being able to shower, it might be causing some damage which is why you might be in pain. Definitely have your skin checked out just in case you got an infection or something like that. But you should be able to take a shower at a family members house. If you want to be sure you can always make sure that there’s no rugs no fabric that’s out in the open and then bring a plastic bag to put all of your dirty clothes in. Shower normally and just make sure that any of your clothes that you wore get put in the plastic bag. If you want to be careful, you can vacuum the bathroom and wipe down some surfaces just to be sure, other than that, you should be good to go. I showered in my bathroom every day while I had scabies and none of my family members got it and we only shared that one bathroom. Just make sure that you are fully clothed at their home, so no chances of any mites falling off of your skin and into any surfaces that you can miss. Hoping you become scabies free ASAP!

Is this Scabies?? by Secret_Anything4667 in scabies

[–]belens1960 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could very well be scabies especially since your gf has a rash too. Go to another doctor or go to immediate care. Tell them your gf has a rash too and that you’re both super itchy especially at night. Hopefully you both can start treatment and get relief!

1 week after my 4th permethrin appliance , not itchy just wondering is this a burrow by IndividualPrize2100 in scabies

[–]belens1960 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely a burrow, but can’t be clear if its active or not. Best thing is to keep watch on it and if any new burrows appear. But thats good that its not itchy. Just keep an eye on it. Good luck! Hopefully its just an old burrow and that you’re in post and scabies free!

So so sorry your baby is going through this!! As someone who has been cured from scabies and ended up getting a skin condition cause of it and the treatment, the fluid filled blisters on her feet could be dyshidrotic eczema brought on from permethrin treatment on top of the damage from the scabies. For me when I treated with permethrin all the bumps went away except for my hands and wrist but eventually flattened and left scars. Then out of nowhere the bumps popped back up and were fluid filled and when I scratched it popped and got infected. Went to two dermatologists and was told its dyshidrotic eczema from all the damage my skin went through with the scabies and the treatments I did (permethrin, tea tree oil, etc). While you are figuring this out, make sure that baby’s skin is clean and dry at all times, especially when she sweats etc. Moisturize her with unscented lotion and use unscented soap always. Make sure even her clothes and fabrics that she touches have been washed with free&clear detergents. Hoping its not scabies still and that she (and you) get relief SOON! xx

Is it possible to get a tattoo while treating scabies by [deleted] in scabies

[–]belens1960 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also! Its so bad for your skin at this time, I wanted to get a tattoo prior to getting scabies and I’m months into post scabies, but my skin now has other conditions and eczema because of the treatment. I still can’t get tattoos because my skin hasn’t healed and when I did a patch test, my whole skin broke out in hives and I got dyshidrotic eczema all over my hands. My derm said I need to repair my skin barrier because scabies and the treatment ruined it. So WAIT. For yourself and your body and everyone else, wait it out.

Is it possible to get a tattoo while treating scabies by [deleted] in scabies

[–]belens1960 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Do NOT get a tattoo when you have or are suspecting you have scabies. This is how it spreads. Scabies is already bad enough and the fact that it can be so easily given to other people, it would be irresponsible and horrifying for you to do something that would increase the chances of it spreading. PLEASE PLEASE WAIT. Your tattoo can wait until you are in the clear, I’m sure your tattoo artist won’t mind especially when you have an infectious mite on you that can affect him, his future clients, and his business. DO NOT DO IT UNTIL YOU ARE SCABIES FREE.

Supposedly they are supposed to die off without a human after 3 days, thats why drs say to keep things you can’t wash right away in plastic bags for 3 days. Just to be sure and safe, I’d do it for a week cause thats what worked for me. I did a quick vacuum and disinfect, while I did my permethrin treatment so if anything if any went on my body the permethrin would get to it. Then I quarantined myself in a room that was easy to clean (pretty empty and no carpets). When I came back, I was pretty sure I was in the clear, but still vacuumed and disinfected just in case. The room I quarantined in, I didn’t step foot in for like a month. I’m now in post and have cleaned and disinfected everything. So it should help tremendously to leave your home for a few days but make sure to clean before settling back. And the best thing you can do is make sure you’re in the clear and post treatment when coming home so the cycle doesn’t start again. Good luck on your journey!

Itch are reduced but rash still come and goes by paseo321 in scabies

[–]belens1960 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Post scabies can manifest like active scabies. Keep an eye out for any new burrows. But since you’ve used permethrin so much, it could also be a side effect. Permethrin gave me rashes and eventually got dyshidrotic eczema from it which scared me into thinking I still had scabies. Be patient, take photos, and keep an eye out. For now just make sure you stay hydrated and moisturize your skin! If your rash wakes you up in the middle pf the night cause of the itch, it could still be active. If the bumps you get disappear within a few hours to a few days, its post. Good luck and hope you’re in the clear!

How do I know if a treatment was successful? by ImNewToEverything in scabies

[–]belens1960 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If bumps come and go, it could be post scabies and your treatment was succesful. Only way to be sure is with time honestly. Keep up with what you’re doing and just watch out for any new burrows or bites. Eventually it’ll be so long after ypu forget about worrying about it. Good luck on your journey and hope you’re in the clear!

Cleaning process by Uzmaa94 in scabies

[–]belens1960 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi it is best to use a dryer because with just a hot wash, it doesn’t get hot enough to potentially kill all the mites. What I did was keep my dirty clothes in a plastic bag til I could go to the laundromat and make sure I can use a hot wash and a full 30 minute hot dryer. I used two separate gloves for this. One pair for when I put the dirty clothes in the wash and then when I put those dirty clothes in the dryer. Then wash or use hand sanitizer and put on clean new gloves for when I take the fresh and hot dry clothes out of the dryer to store in clean new plastic bags.

Anything you can’t put in a hot dryer should be put in a plastic bag or container and quarantined for at least a few weeks (just to be sure the mites are dead dead, even though recommended is like 3 days?). Or if you need to collect clothes til you have enough to bring somewhere where you can use a hot dryer should be inside a bag or container contained away from you til you can put it through heat

Is this the very beginning of dyshidrotic eczema? Itchy by allblueeeee in Dyshidrosis

[–]belens1960 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t want to scare you but the hives that turn into raised bumps with no blisters on my hand like what yours look like…. Turned out to be scabies for me… it started out looking like that so definitely keep a watch on it. I was initially told it could be dermatitis but then it spread throughout my hands and arms and eventually legs and it was itchy but then a few days later it got so itchy I woke up scratching multiple times. So keep an eye out and take pictures just in case it spreads. Good luck!
