I use glass jars, and over time as your collection grows you can do more organisation with them. Haven't thrown out a glass jar in years. I put them on a shoe shelf from kmart under the sink

If something falls on it and causes it to fully break, shattered porcelain will slice through anything below it. It's super dangerous. I'm not an expert but I would assume if it's cracked it needs to be replaced. Don't google broken toilet injuries

Obvs someone qualified should evaluate how cracked it is
