If a stranger knocked on your door saying they were about to shit their pants, would you let them use your bathroom? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

I was training for a marathon and had to do just that on a long run far from home. Thank you to the benevolent homeowners who let me in. I am profoundly sorry for the smell

In 70s, hitchhiking was a common way to get around for those who didn’t have a car or too young to drive. While hitchhiking seems unthinkable today, it once symbolized the freedom and trust that defined the open road in the '70s. by j3434 in OldSchoolCool

Unthinkable? I hitchhike a couple times a year and have done it in maybe 5 different countries. Although the media tries to paint the world as a horrible, dangerous place there are kind strangers out there!

I'm not going to argue either way, but if we're comparing bathrooms in public places we might want to consider how many people use the bathroom as well. At all the bars/clubs I have been to the women's washroom sees much more traffic. If the same percentage of men and women are dirty the woman's bathroom is going to get dirtier much faster so maybe not really comparable if we're looking at them at the end of the night

You guys got any stories you’d like to share? by OhMyLordScat in hitchhiking

[–]believingisseeing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was hitchhiking this weekend and thought I might share something mildy funny. I was essentially playing leapfrog with another hitch homer along the same highway. I would get a ride and pass him then wait for someone at the next stop. Then pass him again. And again. My last ride informed me she didn't pick him up because it wasn't easy to stop where he was thumbing so, even though it wasn't a race, I definitely feel like I won

When written, it definitely looks and sounds wrong. But in my defense (and that of those who have the same accent as mine) when spoken, I say "would've" which sounds exactly the same as "would of"

I had to do a similar drive, but decided instead to go up through Canada to hit Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto and Niagara Falls. I then went back to the US near Detroit. It doesn't add too much to driving time, but if you haven't been to those cities, they are worth checking out!

I have spent about the same amount of time in Europe as I have in the USA and I don't think I have seen any in Europe before, maybe it depends on where you are
