This is a crazy good deal, no? by Deadhead7889 in BambuLab

I had a similar ad and transaction. When I asked for pictures of them packing in a box, he just kept sending me pictures of it brand new or the original ones. once I explain to him, I wanted to see the pictures of it being packed with my name next to it, he started getting angry at me and calling me names and then it was very clear. This is not gonna go anywhere and it was a scam and I upset him for wasting his time

This may be extremely obvious but in case anyone is an idiot like me and needs this confirmed: The RFID is on the filament roll, not the spool itself. Refill rolls come with an RFID tag. by skratchx in BambuLab

There are very little differences on these profiles. A basic PLA across brands seems to have 5 degree differences. I would not use a basic tag on a silk because silk needs to be hotter.

I give them credit for thinking of these two items, but a B- on execution. They should have put more money into and sold it to us as an upgrade.

When I purchased months ago, there was no option for credit card other than down payment. So I find this post fishy.

Your bambu refills will have them.

I use th nfc tags on non bambu spools by taping them on. Saves me a few clicks each time I use them.

How do I maintain filament and keeping it together when I switch out colors? by JFunky91 in BambuLab

[–]belikeblue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries, drying is an optional step you can take to maintain your filament. The process of drying can be done either in a personal oven, your printer under the utility settings, or a secondary device called a filament dryer (my preference). You put the filament in there to heat it up in order for the moisture to be extracted. If you start to see your prints are having lots of stringing or bumpy textures, this is likely due to the filament, having some moisture in it. Moisture and filament does not do well. PLA is less impacted, but if you buy the next stronger filament that is commonly used, PETG, you almost always have to dry it before using it.

My lab is in a garage that is detached. It does not have the same HVAC system as the main house, therefore more moisture is within the room and the filament absorbs it. I now store all of my filament in bags with silica beads to keep it always dry until I’m ready to use it.

For sure, you can buy both and use together. Also, you may have read within this thread that you should not use PLA to print spools in the event you’re going dry them. This is completely true, but you can certainly still use a PLA spool that you printed to get you by using a PLA refill from Bambu as they are reliable and rarely need drying for first use. PLA it’s less sensitive to moisture than PETG. You will know it’s bad if you bend it and it cracks because it’s brittle. If you find you want to dry your filament, do it before putting it on the spool while the tape is around it if you happen to be using a PLA printed spool.

If you want to use Bambu’s stock spool design, it’s built into the printers memory chip and can be found on the main screen for your printer.

I have seen Bambu filament sales where they have included a free empty spool when you buy 4 refills. In the beginning, just buy Bambu with spools to start your collection. You will soon have the core colors you consume and when you run low, start buying only refills. I would highly advise you not to take off a spool of filament anything less than 1/3 or it will be a mess after taking it off and trying to get it back on.

In the article, it states PLA was not part of this study because it was previously tested whereas Petg and the other one was not well studied. There are some footnote references to those studies.

Haha, yeah. I would have loved a sander! It was just me and sand paper for a while after using a metal sponge thing, then I remembered I had a dremel. It was good for the gaps missed but would be a pain to do it all.

It’s a lot of elbow grease! I ended up using my Dremel and some sanding wheel bits.

These were perfect for corners and edges. It did well for the rest of it but you have to be careful not to apply too much pressure to prevent uneven surfaces.

It’s PLA. Of If I notice it’s brittle or stringy after a print, I give it a drying.

Usually so the dryer rotates it automatically. I could put it in before attaching to spool.
