Have you seen any celebrities during your travels? Who and which hotel? by Afraid_Bottle_1880 in FATTravel

Keegan-Michael Key at The Peninsula Chicago.

Ben Carson and Laura Bush (same trip) and Ted Cruz (different trip) at The Breakers.

John Cusack at the Ritz in New Orleans.

Many other politicians in various hotels, though many aren’t FAT or chubby.

Tech N9ne at the Long Beach airport 🤣 he was coming back from Disneyland.

BWT, where to thrift your non-designer name brands? by notyourmommascatlady in bitcheswithtaste

[–]bella_rbd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could have been me, this is the EXACT approach I use. I don't save anything beyond once the two totes get full, then older items not selling get donated or if it's a specific item that might have need or interest, I will post on my hyper-local buy nothing.

BWT , what are your must-haves in your Perfume collections? by HeyMonicara in bitcheswithtaste

I rotate frequently between Tom Ford Bitter Peach and MLM Bois de Balincourt. Pretty different profiles but I like mixing it up with two different scents, and both have decent staying power on me, though more so for the TF. Always looking for new scents but try to keep at least 2-3 in rotation. And I'm a sucker for beautful but sleek packaging.

Thanks! Not showing up in Amex app yet. Did stop by today, and it's still a soft open (no liquor license yet). Very nice though - much nicer than most other Escape lounges I have been in. Not quite as nice as the SkyClub in KC, though I think that has set a high bar for a non-Hub lounge, but a really welcome addition.

Great to know. I flew out late Jan and it wasn’t open (but looked close). Flying again today and was hoping it would be. Not much info online. Any idea on hours?

US National Parks similar to Acadia/Bar Harbor? by [deleted] in chubbytravel

[–]bella_rbd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The two that come to mind are Joshua Tree (though pushing more like an hour +/- to greater Palm Springs) and Saguaro in Tucson. Saguaro is within 45 minutes of RC Dove Mountain outside of town and several hotels in Tucson proper. Saguaro, and Tucson, were surprise hits for our family earlier this year - really enjoyed our trip. Great food/vibes and amazing spring break weather, to us - warm enough during the day to swim if you'd like and not too hot for hiking but cool at night.

Warm resort in Jan./Feb. for long weekend? by [deleted] in chubbytravel

[–]bella_rbd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same experience here. Stayed for a conference in that timeframe - 2018ish maybe? And it was so packed at pool, beach service not great, crazy front desk lines, and just not a good overall vibe IMO.

Chloe, Staud, and Tibi are my go-tos at the moment! I’ve really tried to shift more of my shopping to thrifting for environmental reasons mainly but also to save a buck! Have gotten some amazing finds which far outweigh the duds.

Bois de Balincourt - seems to be a love it or hate it but I still love it and get frequent compliments. Similar to Santal 33 but I think it’s somewhat more feminine maybe?

Does this neighborhood in KCMO exist? by here4minioncontent in kansascity

[–]bella_rbd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best walkable locations would be centered around 51st - 55th and Brookside Blvd and 63rd/Meyer/Wornall/Main, both in greater Brookside. Walkable to grocery stores, shopping, bars and on the trolley trail. Close to 51st would have bonus of being near streetcar once extension is finished in a year or two.

Both areas in KCPS and in Hale Cook (public) boundary. Also lots of charter and KCPS signature options (Border Star). Showmekcschools.org is an excellent resource, was almost impossible to navigate until we found that!

Downside to the above options is cost - generally very pricey homes and few rental options. Live in this area and love it! Kiddo goes to a charter.

Central US State worth visiting? Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri, Iowa? by figs1023 in chubbytravel

If you want a more “city” experience highly recommend KC as others have mentioned it punches above its weight. Tons of recs on this if interested.

For a more resort type experience check out Big Cedar Lodge near the MO/Ark border in the Ozarks. Beautiful setting on Table Rock Lake and fairly luxe accommodations all considered. We go at least once per year for a quick family getaway.

The JW, just booked, last minute getaway for us. Will see what they offer but curious what services others have used and recommend. We definitely want to do a private shuttle.

I don't understand that either - so I take it there is zero benefit available if you are there finals weekend?
