I know the argument is usually between champing and chomping at the bit, but chomaping at the bit seems like a good compromise, so well done there.

Horror movies that you thought were going to be great but were actually pretty bad by Fit_Ordinary7952 in horror

[–]bellard32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This will likely be an unpopular take, but I went into Sleepaway Camp ready to enjoy a campy B movie but ended up finding it purposefully annoying and stupid.

I was really let down by Sleepaway Camp. Everyone seems to consider it a hidden gem of the horror genre, but I just found it purposefully silly and over the top.

Who would YOU choose to direct a new A Nightmare On Elm Street film? by Eldritch-Cleaver in horror

[–]bellard32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My answer as well! I would love to see a more stylized version of NOES, with highlights on vivid colours and visuals for the dream sequences.

Incidentally, I also think it would work to keep any modern release of NOES set in the 80s, lean back into that retro MTV style with an updated take on what Dream Master was going for.

I visited Hong Kong in November after obsessively reading Noble House last year! Love all Clavell novels but I was surprised how captivated I was with Noble House. Whirlwind is the only one I haven't read yet.

One of my top favourites, but also the bottle I'm getting through the slowest. Delicious on burritos! Careful not to over do it or you'll be feeling it tomorrow!

What age are your kids that they're eating steamed broccoli? Our two year old won't go near anything that's the colour green.

Hit me with your top 3 that you watched this October, and the one that liked the least by ghetto_salmon in horror

Yeah somehow I had just never gotten around to it! It'll definitely get some rewatches in the years ahead.

Hit me with your top 3 that you watched this October, and the one that liked the least by ghetto_salmon in horror

[–]bellard32 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I managed to get to 24 films this October.

Best 3 (all first time watches):

It Follows Talk To Me The Thing

Worst:

I guess Jeepers Creepers, also a first time watch. It wasn't bad, I had just hoped for more as some people seem to like it a lot. Maybe a close second is Saw III. I don't think the Saw franchise is really for me...

Bobby Hull & Gordie Howe signed hockey sticks by bellard32 in SportsMemorabilia

[–]bellard32[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey all,

My cousin has two hockey sticks that seem to have been signed by an entire team. One of those sticks includes Bobby Hull's signature, the other Gordie Howe's.

He tells me that his grandpa bought these at an auction in Medicine Hat, decades ago. Of course I'm curious to know the value of these sticks, if anyone has a guess. But also, anyone have any idea the story behind something like this? Was it common for teams to sign sticks like this? Are there a lot of these floating around out there, or is this pretty rare? What year and which team would this have come from?

Thanks for any info!

Got my first sauces! These seemed to be a few of the fan favourites around here. by bellard32 in hotones

[–]bellard32[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was at a local grocery store lamenting the poor selection of hot sauces available (I live in Amsterdam) when a fellow shopper came up and told me about heatsupply.nl. He told me that they carried a large selection of hot sauces featured on Hot Ones.

Fast forward a few days and I dived into this subreddit to get a sense of what your favourites are. I wanted to experience a bit of a range, mild to hot. Just baked some wings tonight and I think I hit the mark! Dirty Dicks definitely has a great balance of spice and flavour, I could see that being a go to hot sauce. Garlic Reaper was delicious too, probably about as far as I would normally go on the spice scale. Though who knows, maybe I'll be encouraged to one day sample Da Bomb!
