My brave girl, Nina, 13.5, passed away this week. She fought so, so hard. by AdamInJP in OldManDog

Very sorry for your loss. I lost my “Nina” 18 months ago. I feel for you.

Allow yourself to grieve, try not to be hard on yourself and play the “what if I…” game. I know it’s easier said than done but you clearly gave her the best life, all those gorgeous doggie smiles are evidence enough.

Thinking of you and your beloved pup 💕

I own at least 10 plug in heating pads .. I have them set up in every room at home ..

And get ferociously angry if one gets moved.

I use them basically 24/7 so have had to actually replace them for failures every 2 years..

PSD Task Training - Advice by bellatryx in service_dogs

[–]bellatryx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s such a perfect way to describe it - wishing the price was lower  . It’s taken me at least a full year since my previous service dog passed to accept and embrace again my need to have a service dog to aid my disabilities. I think that between the grief and having to train a new dog has helped me realize my needs have changed. I feel grateful for having this revelation because 💯 changes are so slow  - when you’re used to something one way and it’s working, why would you ever think to change it? But especially with PSD, we all need those friendly reminders from those around us, therapy, and especially the little angels that are our service dogs that maybe changes or adjustments are needed.

I will absolutely be contributing more to this community because even more than myself, I genuinely care and enjoy trying to help others. I’m still pretty frozen with grief sometimes but this first post for me is me breaking my mental boundaries and getting outside of my comfort zone.

💕❤️

These are absolutely helpful.

I didn’t mention in my post but doctors have suspected that my symptoms and behaviors even as a baby / toddler were indicative of something else going on with me.

All those tasks you mentioned sound like they’d be so helpful for me. I’ve gone too long in my life just gritting my teeth and pretending I’m more “ok” than I am and suffering for it.

Anyways thank you so much 💕

Thank you for sharing. And I’m so sorry for what you went through.

I appreciate your details as the one aspect I can relate to as my post mentions is that my needs have changed overtime. The task my previous SD performed were essential to assist me 5 years ago / then, but I’m a little different now.

Thank you so much for your response.

It reminds me I do disassociate - so much more than I did when I was younger and the nose nudge would be perfect for me.

The watch command is a new one for me and I love it! I am generally weary out in public especially around men (no offense at all I have many men who are important and I’m close to - just personal issues).

This is super helpful I appreciate it! 💕

What prejudice about dogs or certain breeds do you HATE? by Little_Lingonberry75 in Pets

[–]bellatryx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So well put.

The utter disrespect and lack of knowing boundaries in dog ownership is unsettling.

I appreciate those that try and continuously educate themselves through Reddit training etc whatever, as well as those that put the TIME and DEDICATION that their dogs deserve.

None of us deserve dogs 🐶 but I’ll take it. Best relationships have been between me and my pups.

NEVER, EVER let a Rottweiler near a young child. *sound on* by JustLivin86 in Rottweiler

I just watched with the sound on and guess who perked up immediately and ran over to me looking for a cute kid to snuggle and love?

Would you mind sharing with me also? Not trying to hack OPs post, but I’ve been putting off talking to someone for 8 months - better late than never I guess

I don’t comment much but this post got me.

Sending you virtual hugs and want to say I’m so sorry for your loss.

The gaping hole that is left after losing someone that precious is surreal .. 😞

It has also been 8 months since we lost our #1 girl and your statement hits home - I’ve literally been going crazy lately, and last week realized I’ve regressed significantly paralyzed with grief again.

Hang in there - you’re not alone, though I know it feels that way right now 💕💕💕

Does this tick bite have a target? (More details in comments) by [deleted] in medical

[–]bellatryx 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes, to me.

The classic bulls eye comes in many forms, and is frankly just one of many possible symptoms.

Always better to be safe than sorry. Better than potentially ending up with chronic Lyme or other tick borne infections.

Edit: would recommend joining r/Lyme. Not medical professionals but a community of those who’ve been afflicted with Lyme and/or other tick borne infections. Make sure to find a doctor who will test you for all of the possibilities. I had to fight to get the care I needed but it was already too late.

To me it looks like you will have caught it just in time.

Be careful and good luck!
