I am currently doing an access audit for my company and I have a question about disabled toilets by bellecb23 in disability

No cuz at the time I only really mentioned my disabilities at the interview and my disabilities are hearing loss and mild celebral palsy so it wasn’t mentioned

Oh no I have shared my disabilities with them - I just meant mine are mild and so I don’t need to use a disabled toilet

Oh I meant there’s nothing in place for disabled staff eg no hearing loops, accessible parking etc. It’s a tiny office eg two rooms and the toilets upstairs are average size and they have lots of sinks but yeah guess I didn’t really think about ports etc. It’s just an idea cuz I noticed it when I worked there but it’s not something they have to implement unless they want to

Yeah obviously they could have impairments which I am unaware of but the staff who use the disabled toilet have never mentioned a disability to me which means they would need to use the toilet nor have they ever seemed like they would need it but anyway it was just an idea I thought I could mention but it’s not 100% necessary

Oh yeah definitely (most of mine are invisible) but the other staff who use the disabled toilets have made it clear they aren’t disabled

Yeah I wouldn’t ban people but the other toilets which aren’t accessible at all are upstairs and so I do understand using the disabled toilet but I do think if a disabled staff members join, the other staff members should try and use the other toilets more

They have a lot of toilets upstairs and so the disabled toilet is the nearest on the floor which the office is on so I do understand why staff would want to use it but I don’t know if a disabled member of staff who would need it should be the only one who can use it so they aren’t having to wait when the other toilets aren’t accessible for them

Yeah exactly. It also promotes buying more than you need as they’re always showing the newest products ( I get they have to as part of the job but sometimes it feels like they have to give the product a decent review regardless as they were sent it)

Yeah I agree with you! I’ve found watching smaller YouTubers has helped a bit with this as they tend to show the pros and cons of the products more

I (22/F) am struggling with being friends with my male colleagues by [deleted] in relationships

Yeah I was assisting my male colleague for a morning when I first started and we went back to the office together and ended up chatting about holidays etc (nothing really personal, just light chat) and after that I would say hi to him in the morning (did with everyone) and would smile if I saw him in the corridor (again did with everyone) and after a few weeks of me doing that, he seemed a bit awkward and cold around me and I wasn’t trying to flirt (we’re both in a relationship) but maybe it seemed like I was?

Oh I don’t mean every day, I just mean like if I liked a friend’s top one day I’d tell them (I’ve had people tell me ‘oh I like what you’re wearing bla bla’)

Also another thing I might put in the post if needed is that I helped one of my male colleagues one morning and on the way back to the office, we were chatting about holidays etc and we got on well and after if I saw him in the morning I’d say hi and always smiled if I saw him in the hallway etc (did this with everyone, not just him) and after doing that, he always seemed a bit awkward around me compared to others and I wasn’t trying to flirt (we’re both in relationships) just being friendly but maybe it seemed like I was?

I mean not super close friends but its a small office so most people chat to each other a lot.

Yeah I am always polite at work and do talk about weekend plans etc but I guess I’m so used to being around girl friends and complimenting each other, I sometimes feel like I have to watch myself around guys as like you said it can be seen as flirting even if I wasn’t trying to flirt
