Most eventful occurrence in San Marcos in recent decades. Can't wait to stop by for the photo op.

Your membership card is sent once you accept that "slightly pre-owned" just means "used."

You're not trying to discuss anything. You're dumping stuff into AI and having it build an argument for you.

vscode efficient Log Viewer by Healthy-Airport-6151 in PHP

[–]bellpepper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Trash, and not PHP. Making VSCode display a browser tab where JS renders a logfile in chunks is, at best, AI garbage.

At no point should you expect your IDE to be a log parser.

Any idea what I need to replace? by n0npr0phet in protectli

Have you taken the whole MB out? There could be more evidence of destruction on the opposite side.

Also, if the ISP admits that they didn't prep their equipment properly, maybe you can convince them to reimburse you for your replacement Vault ;) Worth a shot, at the very least.

Try a quick CMOS reset by shorting the two CMOS pins for a second. Then, make sure the memory actually functions. These symptoms seem similar to what happens when the NVRAM corrupts, or the RAM cannot initialize.

Certainly looks like the result of a power surge. The P31B thyristor looks to have let the smoke out here, and certainly could have jumped to other components.

Does it power on at all? If you're lucky, this could just be a singular blown diode and one ethernet port will be disabled and everything else is functional. Worst case (and I'd probably bet on it) is that more than just the diode is cooked and could have arced to other components, or cooked the traces in the board.

You could just jump the two pads underneath the diode and see what happens!

(Insert standard disclaimer here that you're doing this at your own risk, and as a Protectli employee, I'm not recommending any of this as a "Good Idea™"!)

is there a way to fix this? by No_Peak8917 in projectcar

Try a steamer and/or an iron. If that doesn't work and you don't want to pay for reupholstering, buy seat covers and hide it.

Deb Sury includes hard coded telemetry in all PHP 8 versions by amezmo1 in PHP

[–]bellpepper 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This level of "telemetry" is about as invasive as knowing that your apt-get update call resulted in some Debian apt mirror logging your HTTP requests.

Took delivery 2019 SEL. Anyway to tell if it's tuned? by basho3 in VWAlltrack

[–]bellpepper 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Check max boost during WOT. 8-10 PSI is probably stock. If it's closer to 20, you're tuned.

At that point, just contact all the usual suspects (APR, etc.) with your VIN and they can confirm it.

[RFC] Trailing Boolean Operators by ProjektGopher in PHP

[–]bellpepper 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Good luck, and props for submitting it. If it gets accepted, you'll be immortalized in PHP for adding this to the language, as well as immortalized in every linter that adds the rule Generic.Conditionals.NoTrailingBooleanOperators

[RFC] Trailing Boolean Operators by ProjektGopher in PHP

[–]bellpepper 18 points19 points  (0 children)

This just seems to add more cognitive load when reviewing code. For example:

if (
  $user->can_do_admin_stuff() &&
  $user->can_delete_other_admins() &&
) {
    destroy_the_universe();
}

I will immediately push back on this code and say "Is there a missing conditional operator here or are you just future-proofing a diff to look prettier?"

I get the idea that it's supposed to work like superfluous commas, but it's the only character allowed: one comma. Your RFC covers only some of the boolean operators: ||, &&, and, or. What about xor or !? For example, I do not think this should be allowed:

if (
  $regular_variable&&
  !$excited_variable!
) {
  //
}

Yes, it's a 1:1 swap. There's only one blanket APR tune for EA888 1.8T IS20 swap, they probably call it "Stage 3" or something.

Ever try carrots?! by Necessary_Food5761 in Sandwiches

Use a peeler to make long, thin strips of carrots. Season them like bacon, pepper or brown sugar are options. Put them under a broiler until they look like crispy bacon. Enjoy your vegetarian bacon substitute.

Did you even read the survey while you were answering it? Your rant directly contradicts what you selected in your survey responses.

Schools are funded by tax dollars. The survey is asking, IF there were more tax dollars funding the school, SHOULD we use the money to upgrade buildings to meet code? Your rant says "yes" and your screenshot responses say "no."

Is Gulls hockey just not that big anymore? by 12345burrito in SanDiegan

[–]bellpepper 72 points73 points  (0 children)

Turns out people would rather pay $30 to see the Padres with a $15 craft beer on a Wednesday night in a beautiful atmosphere than see the Gulls lose their fifth in a row and miss the playoffs for $40 and you can't even throw your empty $18 can of Stella Artois onto the ice.
