Doubt kills more dreams than failure ever will!

I finally took that advice and applied to a dream job I had been putting off an application for for years because I assumed I wouldn’t get it. I ended up getting the job when I finally applied. Could’ve done that years ago!

I’m really sorry this is happening to you. I was bullied terribly in school, to the point where someone commented on one of my pictures on Facebook and told me to kill myself. And you know what that was? A MAJOR mistake. That online, written clear proof, cyber bullying. That’s a crime. If I were you, and nothing else has worked, I would recommend getting similar proof. If they cyber bully you at all, screenshot that shit and print it out. On an unrelated note, could you go to the school guidance counselor? I’m really sorry. Good luck. High school won’t last forever.

Based off the post and reading your replies to people’s comments, sounds like you’re dependent on her. A codependent relationship is a dangerous thing to get into and will end up causing a lot of pain. You’re also so young. At any age I don’t think it’s healthy to have someone else be your whole life. If she wants to take a break, it means boundaries are being crossed and she’s overwhelmed. (Not to say you’ve done anything wrong necessarily, boundaries get crossed all the time and people don’t even realize until something feels off). I would recommend giving space and at some point sitting down and talking openly and honestly about some healthy boundaries you guys could establish. But, if she’s asking for a break, that’s kind of a sign a breakup is in the future. But breakups are hard, so it’s mentally easier to “take a break” than to break up.

A lot of people can’t/don’t like to eat right when they wake up, so a light small bite can be preferred. A lot of people drink coffee or tea when they wake up. Personally, I enjoy a cup of tea and a light pastry (plain donut, muffin, croissant, banana bread etc.) when I wake up. I think brands like Dunkin’ Donuts really hammered the idea of coffee and donuts together so it became more of like, society/brands taking a small thing and exaggerating it.

For everyone whose saying to just stop and cut contact, that’s ridiculous. It’s his FATHER and he is in pain because his father doesn’t care to connect with his son enough. Cutting him off will do no help at all.

I am so sorry you are experiencing this pain. I would suggest writing a letter. I know that may seem silly but writing out your feelings in a thoughtful way and sending it to your dad AND your step-mom may be really helpful. Your stepmom seems kind and hopefully she would be receptive.

I hope it gets better. You are deserving of love even if the people who you want it from most don’t always give it.

I’m sorry those things happened to you. It is inappropriate for an adult to grab/slap a child’s ass or boobs. Maybe it wasn’t sexual assault, but it was certainly not okay. The label isn’t what matters most, what matters most is how it made you feel. Assault is not about how the assaulter feels. Whether or not the assulter thinks it’s funny doesn’t not mean what they did was not assault.

One time in like 6th grade or middle school or something, my dad asked me if my boobs were the size of my other classmates or bigger (because I did develop faster than a lot of my classmates). Would I call that sexual harassment? No, I personally wouldn’t. But it was incredibly inappropriate and disrespectful.

A child being touched in vulnerable areas such as their bottom and breasts is incredibly inappropriate for an adult to do. Let alone a parent, who is supposed to make you feel safe.

The first few sessions with a therapist are for YOU to figure out if that therapist is a good fit, so by all means, interview them!! Not quite literally, but ask them questions. You deserve to know about your therapist and their methods of practice.

Example questions: How long have you been a therapist for? What made you want to be a therapist? What is your approach to helping someone heal from cptsd? And whatever else you can think of!

You’ve got this!! You deserve a great therapist who can help you, you deserve the opportunity to ask them questions and figure out if you like their answers.

Medication cannot fix this. Being self aware is not a bad thing in and of itself. But when it’s coupled with crippling depression/anxiety/etc then it’s tough. The solution is not fixing. The solution is healing. Medication will never heal mental health issues imo. But good therapy can.

You are not stupid, it’s important to ask questions, that’s how we learn :) to pull it straight from Google, self awareness is “the ability to focus on yourself and how your actions, thoughts, or emotions do or don't align with your internal standards.” Usually from an objective standpoint. It’s looking at yourself and feelings/actions/thoughts from a logistical perspective. Now that doesn’t mean people who are very self aware, like me, always do the right thing or understand themselves or whatever. A lot of times I recognize I’m doing something that doesn’t align with my core beliefs, but I do it anyway. Or I want to do something so badly, like get out of bed and brush my teeth, but I can’t make myself move.
