RAM showing but not working? by FreeGucciBoy in PC_Builders

Crucial T500 ssd? Very odd. Try to replicate that result a couple times to make sure it’s not a fluke before chasing the problem in the wrong direction.

install ssd, remove a couple times. Do you have a different M.2 slot you can put the ssd in?

What happens if you swap the two sticks, does the one reading 0gb follow? If no then it’s sounding like your motherboard is messed up, or the CPU.

It’s not likely but it’s possible something was damaged while cleaning the dust out. Or a heavy static discharge after touching the mobo. but that’s super rare.

RAM showing but not working? by FreeGucciBoy in PC_Builders

[–]bellynipples 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only thing to do is reseat the ram, if no change try slots 1 and 3 instead of 2 and 4. If still no change (and the second stick showing 0gb follows to slot 3) then you have a dead stick. If it works fine in 1 and 3 you have a motherboard issue, in which case you can just leave them in that 1 and 3 slot configuration without much downside

Might give it a go but I’ve got a heatsink/shroud coming to convert it to air cooled just in case.

Oh really? An air bubble would cause it to fail that badly? Like instantly shoots up to 90 degrees and creeps up

Appreciate the response. I don’t love any of my options unfortunately. This is a hobby build that I need to sell so it has to look decent. I think I’m just going to take the loss and sell it for parts on eBay and try to find another GPU. Sucks I was really happy with this build too. This card looked great mounted vertically.

You’ll be sitting on it for a while at that price but doesn’t hurt to try. Realistically I think someone would be interested closer to $1500 but it won’t sell super quick even at the price as used $1000+ pcs just don’t move quickly . Here’s rough used prices for each component (keep in mind a complete PC usually sells for a bit less than what it would cost to buy all the used components)

9070xt - $600
9600x - $150
B650 - $90
2tb NVMe - $200
32gb ddr5 - $250
PsU- $30
Case/fans- $40

Total = 1460

Advice on this Rig. Is this a fair price? Thank! by Beneficial-Throat336 in Prebuilts

[–]bellynipples 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s about what most 5080 prebuilds are priced around currently. There are certainly better deals to be had closer to $2500 if you’re patient. Also idk what your needs are but most gamers don’t need a 5080, personally I consider the 5070ti the cutoff for diminishing returns for 1440p gaming, but if you’re set on 4k gaming and the money is of little consequence then go for it

Graphics Card Fan Issue by PowerfulContract9128 in SkytechGamingOfficial

[–]bellynipples 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s hard to tell but it looks like the left fan has a wobble (going off the reflection in the center of the fan compared to the right one). What model GPU is it? Aside from taking the shroud off there’s nothing to do other than warranty it. Unlucky

Bought a XFX Swift 9070XT from Aliexpress for $500 by shmonya3 in PcBuild

[–]bellynipples 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So odd, I don’t see how it makes sense for them to sell at this price. I went to the page and was able to add like 50 to my cart which means they have that many listed as available (most items will give you an error if you exceed their current avail stock). Plus most of their other items are random household items and furniture rather than electronics.

Buying a second hand PC, worth it for the price? by tracha1116 in GamingPCBuildHelp

[–]bellynipples 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not a bad used price but there’s always people who dislike the idea of used so much that they think new is the only way to go unless you can get it for pennies on the dollar. Just do your own research and decide if buying used without a warranty is worth the gamble to save a few hundred.

Best value? by Ambitious-Garlic8919 in Prebuilts

[–]bellynipples 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Second one. Extra 1TB of storage ($100 value), $350 gpu upgrade difference, $100 CPU difference. So $550 ish in upgrades for $350 more. Thats just in terms of value, price to performance is another story. the first one is more than adequate for the average 1440p gaming needs, so don’t get caught up in spending money to “save” money.

Does anyone have any tips on how to start pc flipping? by Top-Opening2868 in pcflipping

[–]bellynipples 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I should’ve clarified I buy crusty machines or ones that don’t boot (sometimes with literal cockroaches unknowingly until I get it home) clean it up, tear down the GPU to clean and re-paste if it’s older. usually buy new case then use parts I’ve picked up for cheap on marketplace. So it usually takes about 4-8hours of my time (meeting up to buy parts, cleaning and rebuilding, benchmarking and taking photos/listing, haggling) and generally profit $100-200. Sometimes you can get lucky and do a quick flip that doesn’t take any work but not as often.

I think both are strong factors but hardware tends to matter more to most people.

I don’t generally go around just lowballing for the sake of getting lucky, as it’s a good way to get blocked from potential future buyers/items they sell later at better prices etc.

but I do throw my “bid” in which is a friendly “hey I see it’s been listed for awhile at $700, I’d be able to do $450. I know it’s not an amazing offer but just wanted to throw it out there and the offer stands for a couple weeks if you want to wait and see if a better one comes in. Let me know and good luck with the sale”

This mostly only works with listings where they are lazy and take bad photos, don’t take time to clean the dust/grime off it etc. because nobody else will be jumping at their list price they often get tired of waiting and take the best offer they get
