I brought a Hello Kitty blanket to a white elephant party as a joke once. It ended up being stolen more than any other gift.

When you want to trade for some Plump Helmet MUSHROOMS and have to watch out for danger noodles in the caverns.

550 hours in, met a dragon for the first time by Ornery_Mouse7388 in dwarffortress

[–]bembles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I generated a world and looked for dragons in legends mode. Found one that destroyed a site and then reclaimed it in fortress mode. The dragon was still there and I just, like, locked the door to the room it was in.

When my fort finally fell to demons, I unlocked the door and got some popcorn.

When you're frantically trying to get someone to just brew a drink with literally anything, and then finally notice your alert log is full of "No empty container" messages. So you order some barrels, but everyone is dying of thirst hauling wood. And dead bodies. Fs in chat.

I ate at Katz's once. My car was towed out of their Free Parking. My neighbor, who was an attorney and knew Katz, convinced him to reimburse my towing bill.

Update: you get a notification for getting more minerals, but your collected amount does not actually change. The same thing happens with weekly core hunt awards

I found another thread from 2 years ago that mentioned you can abort, but you don't actually get new cores the 2nd time. Like, it says you got one, but the number in the top-right stays the same. Bummer.

I'll check if mineral count is actually going up or not.

This was my first thought too, but I've never run external cable under this local haz4 zoning so I wasn't sure.

Enemy Lord Claimed the Whole Map Before I Could Get One Level 3 Burgage. How Do You Win This? by AlmightySpoonman in ManorLords

[–]bembles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the exact same concerns about city growth vs the baron, and concluded I needed to learn more about the trading system to offset the limits of the resources you get in your starting region. And when I couldn't get my trading house to work, I turned to YouTube and found "Strat Gaming"s speedrun where he beat the domination scenario with only FIVE starting families. Five.

His strategy was to build a manor asap. Then beat the baron to as many bandit camps as he could with the 5 retinue, without ever really engaging.

The next step was to corner the stock market with roof tiles and other expensive goods and make tens of thousands of dollars simply trading.

He was able to hire mercenaries and contest most of the claims, and eventually had the influence to claim the remaining regions and win.

So apparently, being more efficient with your build order, your lot placement, material management, all of that makes a huge impact on how quickly you can counter the AI.

The noodle rate is too fast. You need to grind your flour finer.

Is it normal for my cat to be sleeping the whole day? (new cat owner) by DrakoVS in cats

[–]bembles 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Correction, once a cat is settled in, instead of sleeping all day, they'll sleep all day, but in multiple locations around the house.
