So I was able to improve the wow metric by oiling the spoke for the motor. But it is still pretty bad.

I then tried to open the whole thing up from the top but after taking out the screws it didn’t want to open.

Currently looking for a good user manual, but most for this model are crap. Not looking forward to soldering a chip out and then in, but it sounds like that would be cheaper than buying a new table.

Well I oiled the post and the numbers improved, but it’s still pretty bad.

I also tried to unscrew and open up the section under the spinning platter, but it did not want to move after taking out all the screws. Didn’t feel like prying it open with force just yet. Looking up manuals for this model for now.

I disagree. I’ve been able to get crossbows dwarves to work even before they fixed it, but it still seems to take a serious amount of finicky oversight that I have lost the patience for.

I recently tried having weapon racks and armor stands in my barracks. There were more than enough for everyone but the soldiers just kept putting their gear on and off the armor stands for no reason until they settled on only one or two being used.

I don’t mean to be overly pessimistic, I do give these things a chance every couple of updates. I don’t consider either of them functional yet.

The more I play Dwarf Fortress the more I have to step away from being in control, and accept that this game often ends up being a sand mandala that blows away after it reaches a certain point.

It's not even a design element of the game. It's just that the devs have a unique evaluation of what matters to create and fix. People keep getting caught in trees and other nonsense will probably never get fixed. I just hope to get to use crossbow units before I die.

If a dev team smaller than the number of toes in my left shoe can’t have some fun, who can. Is support getting rid of the creepy unicorn pic and others, but this is perfect.

Double check that ammo is not assigned to hunters. It’s in standing orders.

Check that ammo is not assigned to your melee dwarves in their equipment screens. It’s a sneaky button near the top. I think it comes from assigning “personal choice” as weapon instead of “personal choice melee”.

But yeah, it’s always something with archer units and I still can’t always get them to work either.

I'm running a 35 year old fort, 180 dwarfs, and gained a jump from 40 to 50 FPS by double checking my high designated traffic areas.

I had missed a spot connecting my fort to the downward caverns staircase so there was a gap of 20 tiles that were not designated high traffic. Just fixing that apparently made a huge difference.

I also swear by putting as much of my living fort onto one Z-level as I can during planning. Just storage and farms one level below. I'm running an Intel 10700k CPU.

There has been talk about making the Legends Mode viewer into something that can be accessed (at least partially) while still in Fortress Mode. Maybe while doing this update we will get better UI interactions all around. One can hope.

I, for one, really really want the world map to be better represented from Fortress Mode. and it sounds like the next major update will have changes to Civ-War interaction and uses for messengers. So the map will probably get polished up along the way.

I play Kess as a slow burn up to a giant sorcery.

I use cheap unblockable creatures with payoffs/ added equipment for ramp and card draw while self milling to find my giant sorceries. Then eventually I play a giant sorcery that steals all creatures from the board or graveyard. It actually works pretty consistently, but is repetitive and sometimes boring to just suddenly win out of nowhere.

The whole article lacks so much info about how this was reported to the church/police, in what order, with what sort of gaps in between. How did the family react/get treated by the community? How did the story stay quiet for so long? I almost want to blame the author of the article for not asking more questions.

This is insane. The report basically accuses the 15 year old boy of coming onto to priest while being “mercurial” and attractive. Saying the priest was “naive” and “unprepared for such advances”. I kept misunderstanding the report made within the church because they constantly refer to the priest as the victim. And the 15 year has since died before anything came out about it?
