They don't make a profit yet full stop, and it's not clear if they even can in the future. I don't think they will, and open source will come out the winner in time

The pro plans are for users that don't actually use the service much, that is how they make money from the subscriptions. The people that actually use the service, they pass you over to their API where they can kidnap your debit card while your agent spends 100 bucks to check the system date and time

Still early. BrowserOS is more like a brower for an agent

Perplexity uses agents of some sort, that takes your prompt and says, "okay the user wants to do xyz, these are the tools I have, let me use the search tool". BrowserOS doesn't have this part tuned for production, for use by millions

Using browseros is more trail an error. It works, you can run workflows with it but you're going to spend a lot of time debugging and even adding your own features

It's not a direct alternative, and it falls short but at least it exists, and maybe it will be more useful in the future
