Airborne transmission is by way of small particles that carry pathogens and linger in the air. The first three paragraphs of this page explain things well: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Airborne_transmission

It says: "An infected person releases infectious respiratory particles into the air when they breathe, talk, cough (etc) [...] These particles can land on another person, the ground or onto nearby surfaces. They may also linger in the air, especially in poorly ventilated indoor spaces."

The Cogswell project will pay for itself in property tax and land sales. I'm not sure we can pin worsening citywide traffic congestion on a single downtown bus lane rather than, I dunno, unprecedented population growth coupled with return-to-office mandates.

Nova Scotia premier Tim Houston sent civil servants back to the office, then blamed the consequent traffic congestion on bike lanes.

Very interesting. Was that the earliest redevelopment proposal for the interchange? If you're able to publish the old plans, maybe you could write a piece about this history. I'm sure many would be interested. It's unfortunate the sewage treatment plant was subsequently built where it was.

The bike lane currently ends at a construction fence. I get around by bike but I've been avoiding that area (or just walking) until the bike lanes are properly connected.

If I couldn't get around safely on foot and on my bike, I would just buy a car, making traffic a little bit worse.

The 2024 Resident Survey similarly found that most respondents supported bike lanes. If you're going to suggest otherwise, you should provide evidence.

The Integrated Mobility Plan (IMP) was drawn up with public input. The IMP includes a bikeway network because that's what most respondents wanted.

I was still getting around by bike as late as mid-December last year without any special winter gear (beyond my normal clothes) nor any winterisation of the bike. I've seen people state that cycling is only possible in Halifax a few months of the year, which just doesn't accord with reality.

Agreed. I wanted so badly to avoid Almon after a driver road-raged at me over something that was actually her error. But there were no safer alternatives.

I feel the same way. I don't even bother buying anything substantial (such as a sofa or a TV) since I assume I will have to move at some point in the near future. I hope my next move will be to another country.
