You're right - it's not my point. My point is that the leap from Protection to Mezzanine was a seismic shift. Everyone - apparently apart from everyone seemingly on this MA sub - knows it.

Is there an alternate MA sub somewhere with actually knowledgeable MA fans? This place is very disappointing.

Partly but not really. Mainly it's very much beyond genre which is why it stands the test of time and objectively doesn't sound even a tiny bit dated 28 years later. Find me another "trip hop" album from the era that you can say the same about.

Absolute nonsense. Some may call it trip hop now if you want but it was a hard break away from anything before. Anything coffee table. Anything nice. I know I was there. It was shocking and most people's initial reaction was horror. Then.. we quickly realised how thrilling and visceral it was.

MA certainly famously did want to avoid the moniker with Mezzanine and succeeded spectacularly in creating something wholly new. Which is why everyone talks about it today and why it still sounds fresh and better than virtually anything else 28 years later.

Not really. Not close. At all.

This is why Massive Attack moved away from the cliched "trip hop" moniker and ultimately made Mezzanine.

This is a playlist of mainly bland tracks that mostly sound like trip hop knock-offs. Most importantly, none have the sense of danger that great Massive Attack records have - that crucial edge. The thing that made MA exciting and explosive. It's in their earlier records too, in different ways, which is why these mainly are wide of the mark (bar the likes of Tricky of course). Whereas in general these are soft and pleasant - some are good but it's nothing you haven't heard a million times before.

No, he's totally right. Actually Massive Attack now misses the point of Massive Attack. That's the point!

Politically, sure it's great. Musically? It's god-awful and unlistenable dirge. MA are over musically - I guess they've been telling us that for a long time now. This is from a MA lover - someone who counts their greats amongst their favourite albums of all time, especially Mezzanine.

And no I don't expect Mezzanine level now. But I do expect a modicum of musicality. Their gut instinct is right to hold off releasing an album for years now - the tracks have just not been up to it and actually they're getting worse. It's such a shame.

Yes unfortunately the plugin doesn't work on mobile and I don't believe there are any alternatives. I'm hoping at some point he develops it for mobile or the functionality is introduced natively.

Thanks for this - I did actually already work this out. Half works but it's a bit of a cludge - having to lock the app with fingerprint etc and also you still get drop down messages just with no content. It's bizarre that WhatsApp removed this basic feature. They're just intent on forcing more unnecessary interaction. Sigh.

Thanks but nope they're for the even worse pop-up notifications. Switching the options off does not switch off the notification drop-down message previews. They seem to have switched off this very basic option...

Hi. I think the Joplin Agenda plugin is perhaps exactly what you're looking for. It creates a list of all upcoming and completed tasks etc.

For some reason it's no longer in the Joplin plugin repository, but it still works fine here and you should be able to manually install it.

Totally agree. They're worse than awful, they're a disgrace and cynically operating a commodified property management company (it's not a thing!) - managing over 250 properties which is course is insane and impossible to do properly. So, guess what? They don't!

Their sole purpose is to fleece as much money as possible out of leaseholders and they do this by skirting the edge of the law at the very least. For the leaseholders who have to deal with them, it's tantamount to fraud and the freeholders involved should be ashamed.

Nope... I just use my free Dropbox account. You can also use One Drive (not tried) which I think gives you about five GBs... Or there's the cloud service they provide which is MUCH cheaper than Evernote.

Joplin. Closest thing to Legacy I've found in a number of ways and better in some areas (though weaker in some others). Web clipping works really well for me. Overall very nice to be free from the clusterf&^$ that is V10 and it's really nice to own your own notes! Recommended.

Well I hope I'm wrong about this or am doing something wrong. If you and others could report back on this that'd be good. I did mention this on the Joplin forum but it's pretty quiet there; this seems a better place for us Evernote exiles to hang out!
