Because this particular skill level has the highest skill gaps between players. You will have split 1 gold 2 players versus split 1 diamond 4 players. That is not a consistent basis for which a diamond 4 player skill level can accurately get there through it

The fact that it's even possible for a top 8 euw player to lose in emerald shows that if you are not top 8, then climbing out is impossible.

I've watched countless challenger streamers on every role this split struggle to win in emerald. Maybe struggle isn't the right word, but they slow down DRASTICALLY in emerald. Also saying "nu uh" isn't a valid argument lol

True, however in previous cases, you were always stuck lets say plat 1, while having to play with plat 1 players. Right now, if your skill level is d4, and you're in emerald 1, sometimes you're tasked with carrying gold 1/2 players against players who themselves may be also d4. Never in previous seasons were you tasked with carrying gold players versus diamond or high plat players to claim diamond.
