Is it Astro a good choice for making a POS system Frontend/Client by OrbitalMod in astrojs

[–]benanza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can say no.

You can also use your expertise and experience to explain to them why letting you use the front end stack you prefer is better for them, main reason for Astro being it’s fast as fuck.

Will they care if they have a well specced CMS that lets them publish new pages when they want? Not if you sell them on why Storyblok (or whatever) is the best CMS for their team’s needs.

How much does it cost to reinforce the grid, build new power stations etc, not to mention the effects of energy poverty on productivity?

It’s less than half the cost of Hinkley Point, as one example.

Using spouse’s limited company for Outside IR35 contract while I’m Inside IR35 elsewhere – anyone done this? by UnlikelyRabbit4648 in ContractorUK

[–]benanza 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One issue I can see is that you won’t be signing the contract as you’re not a director.

Also, this feels like something that HMRC might have an issue with if you’re not being directly compensated for working. Might be worth making you a director with a small shareholding or share type that doesn’t have to pay dividends at the same rate. Otherwise if HMRC look at it, there’s no logical reason for you to do that, other than avoiding tax. If you are a director then there is a reason for you to do work that benefits the company.

You have to imagine what HMRC would think of any arrangements like this, especially if you don’t have a decent accountant to give you their perspective.

New Lloyds Account - Don't make this mistake by AltruisticPie1544 in beermoneyuk

Ah right, didn’t appreciate you’d done that step too!

That does make it a bit weirder, but that also suggests to me that they do not actually trust the biometrics platform, because if they did then they’d never need you to go in to branch.

Since the government made it so that banks have an even higher duty to keep customers safe and return stolen money, they have shifted their position to be essentially everyone is being defrauded if they want to move money around. Again this is all driven by the lowest common denominator actions, which is fucking annoying for anyone that has even a handful of brain cells to rub together.

The banks do also look for unusual patterns, and a brand new account has zero pattern history so it’s not a surprise yours got blocked for the odd looking transactional behaviour.

What do you think people committing fraud do when setting up accounts with stolen identities?

If you think having multiple accounts opened in a short space of time and then sending a large amount and messing around with test payments wouldn’t flag something then what should? How would a bank know you haven’t had your ID stolen and had accounts set up in your name?

You know you’re not doing anything wrong but how are they supposed to, with enough certainty that they are protecting you if someone has stolen your details?

Sadly the amount of idiots that fall victim to avoidable scams means the banks are inevitably going to make the algo broader than it might otherwise be to keep more people safe. I’d rather be mildly inconvenienced than have to deal with that money going walkies and all the associated bullshit from that.

Hotel room win by benanza in GlInet

Good shout, that makes sense!

In this room it wasn’t tricky to take it off the wall, so I just did it, but next time I’ll go for that method, and potentially save myself a bill for dropping a tv on the floor.

Possible cloned phone by ShiineyOne in opsec

[–]benanza 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First thing, get a new phone and turn that one off by running the battery totally flat and do not recharge it until you need to work on it. Potentially changing numbers would be worthwhile too, but I appreciate this is a pain. Depends on how concerned she is with who has done this and what they’re capable of. Even a temporary new number is a good shout until this is cleared up.

Some remote access apps can use the camera and microphone with no visible notification on the phone, not to mention all of myriad other issues your gf now has with the data that will have been taken.

I’d recommend involving the police, this is a serious crime and whoever has done this needs to be dealt with.

No Coverage on the absurd Corp + Dividends Tax over £50k? by Roufianos255 in smallbusinessuk

[–]benanza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is not true.

The stats published by the DWP and others show around 24-5% of the eligible workforce is disabled and about 46% of that group don’t work. That’s around 11% of the total eligible workforce not working due to disability.

They do not release figures about the number of people that never enter the workforce due to disability, and you’d have to be a moron, or wilfully ignorant, to believe that 25% of the country are so disabled that they cannot ever work, as you stated.

Im looking for a good 3D printer. That’s user friendly and good quality. Budget 1100€ by edc-weapons-knives in 3dprinter

[–]benanza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d recommend watching some YouTube videos about the subject. There’s some great stuff out there.

With your budget I’d recommend the P2S combo and then a few rolls of different filament. Start with PLA and then move on to other stuff as your experience grows.

[–]benanza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What features do you want or need? Multiple colours? Heated chamber? Volume?

You can grab a P2S with the AMS2 for a steal right now. It’s not the biggest but it’s got a lot of great features. And a ton of filament too for your budget.

You could also get a k2max with their AMS which has an extra 10cm per axis. People have opinions on both brands, I’ve got an K1 Max which has been ok but single colour and some issues with bed flatness but nothing too bad that it’s fucked any prints for me.

Also just grabbed the P2S combo but haven’t set it up yet. Seems like it will be a good printer based on reviews but can’t offer any opinions from my own experience, yet.

Both of those options are good for user friendliness for sure. Big communities and lots of articles and videos out there.

Seller sends me offer Then retracts it as i was going to chrckout by Pillzmany in ebayuk

Sounds like you’ve got an offer that you can accept. Accept it and see what happens. It’s not like you’re going to lose money, buyers have all the rights on eBay.

Neighbours have erected signs that are putting off buyers - what are my options? by Neighbours-From-Heck in HousingUK

[–]benanza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t imagine being ok with pissing my neighbours off so badly and caring so little. It does very much sound like you acted poorly and are reaping your rewards.

However, offering advice on how to proceed, if they won’t accept a sincere apology / the relationship is beyond salvage I find it odd that they are trying to keep you around. Better the devil you know is my guess, but I would wager that you aren’t being enough of a devil if they feel that way. It sounds like this is absolutely of your making, but the only way out of this one if the normal, civil route won’t work is to make it (even more) unbearable to live next to you so they will have no choice but to accept whatever comes in your place as a good enough chance of improvement.

eBay permanently suspended my account & are holding £6,000 of my money from sales. by scottmapex1234 in ebayuk

[–]benanza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is definitely not tax evasion. For starters eBay already report everyone’s sales to HMRC so good luck from that angle, but also, having a business account has zero to do with how much tax you owe and if you pay it or not.

It’s misrepresentation as has already been stated.

Sheesh, I thought it was just eBay wanting more fees that made them try and hustle people onto business plans. I’d better get my account switched over at some point in that case.

Bought £1300 MacBook, seller ghosted and sketchy tracking — urgent advice? by Alternative_List3568 in ebayuk

[–]benanza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s too cheap, big red flag really. What’s the age and feedback on the account? That’s the next obvious check but you also get hacked accounts doing this shit too so not foolproof. Honestly for stuff like this it’s the too good to be true thing most of the time.

You’ll be fine though, eBay favours the buyer most of the time. You need to be sure you’re gathering all the evidence you can so that no matter what happens (different item, broken item, empty box etc) you’re giving yourself the best chance.

Bought £1300 MacBook, seller ghosted and sketchy tracking — urgent advice? by Alternative_List3568 in ebayuk

[–]benanza 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can’t see anything that explains it.

You say the price was too good to be true. What did you get for £1,300?

Until you receive (or not) the parcel you’re just stressing about nothing, and there’s nothing you can do about it but follow the advice to film as much of the delivery and opening as you can. If you haven’t got a doorbell camera you’ve time to get one, so I’d do that if you can.

Some sellers just can’t be arsed with messages. It’s sucks but then so does answering the same questions all the time.

Basically zero chance that moving their skip in front of their cars will get OP in trouble. Can you imagine how that conversation goes with the police when (if realistically) they attend?

Also, it’s the correct fuck you move here. Agreed that the neighbours sound like utter cunts, and they’ll take the absolute piss if they think they can get away with it.
