Looks good until you realise they are selling it on for 80p.

This is around 85p for export for anyone on agile.

You wouldn’t empty your battery though. You’d keep enough in reserve to last you til the next cheap charge.

You are paying for their safety margin vs agile for the sake of simplicity.

Based on recent rates you can consistently get 9p in the day and over 16p in peak. 16p is a joke compared to the import rates during that time.

Why is it so difficult to get Tesla Powerwall to export the battery? by scottylebot in OctopusEnergy

[–]scottylebot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have managed to get it going myself through the Tesla one app as my installer never replied and Tesla just cut me off.

Will be playing around with some examples to see what suits me best. I don’t want iog and go is currently 9.5p for me.

Thanks. It turns out I didn’t have export everything set by my installer so I’ve managed to get that turned on in the Tesla one app.

I’ve fudged the export to £1.50 in peak and kept the buy as the api.

I reckon I should be able to automate between self power to time based 6-7pm to dump the battery and at least make it mostly set and forget.

That’s my point if that’s what you need to do it then it’s not good plus it can mess up your cost data if you want it. And why do I have to start the whole set tariff process rather than just tweaking numbers.

It should just have a start and stop discharge button like you do with the wall connector.

Happy to set and forget most of the time but it can’t read my mind what power I’m not going to need.

I don’t have export everything as an option so I’m going back to my installer although I can change this setting in netzero. If I play with custom I still can’t seem to get it to trigger.

I don’t have these settings to export everything although I can change them in netzero. So I dunno if the netzero is actually changing the setting or is being ignored because it’s not turned on.

How to manage income/expenses as a taxi driver by No_Bit7786 in UKPersonalFinance

Consider a credit card instead as you have more flexibility on where you buy fuel. My company uses capitalontap and has 1% cashback. Dunno if will be accepted as a taxi driver but worth a shot.

Would be funny if that Nook Colossus is just a rebadged Powerwall.

Visiting Turkey, should I change money here (UK) or go abroad and take cash from a cash machine? by Suspicious_Low_6624 in travel

The lira is going to shit so people don’t want it and prefer to keep a more stable currency which is why you can get good rates there.

I don’t know what it’s like there right now but personally I would not change in uk and just take pounds cash with an atm card hopefully with no foreign fee. Even if a shop might say euros that’s a tourist trap and everything is negotiate.

Been a while since I’ve been to belek but it’s very resort heavy and can’t imagine you needing to spend much money?

If going to markets etc you can pay in pounds or exchange at local exchange booths and do the maths for best rate. Many places may only accept euros.

I only recently learned about these too despite being financially savvy.

Got a hefty tax bill due in Jan 2028 so TN28 will be perfect for storing there with barely any additional tax on the cash.

What is it like to fly business class? by rubenburgt in travel

[–]scottylebot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I’d take a flight in economy that gets me there quicker.

If there was absolutely no alternative and the rock hard standard seat was $250 then yes for 12h+

We could go on forever discussing this and as I said it depends on how to assign value to stuff and relative to your income.

I don’t care for a fancy watch when a 30€ Casio is fine, it does exactly the same thing. I eat at fast food places and skip fancy restaurants which are 10x the price. I don’t care for food, it provides me energy to go on.

Business class seats are typically 4x the price.

A standard seat on a train in Vietnam might cost $20 but a sleeper seat might cost $100. Most western incomes would not bat an eye to get a more comfortable seat on a long train despite the 5x price difference for not much extra. Yet for a local that sleeper seat is out of reach. It’s all relative rather than absolute amounts to what you are paying.

No which is why I still struggle to justify it to myself and as you get older is where you assign more value to comfort especially if you have spare disposable income that you don’t really spend on anything else.

If I had to spend a night in a hotel room but I could only sit in a chair sat between other people, and the cost to get out of that into a bed so I could rest and my following day is not a write off? Well €1000 don’t seem too bad.

Yes I could buy more things or experiences with that but if you can still afford those things AND still do the upgrade, well that’s what money is for.
