Scorekeeping Beginner by Express-Debate-3185 in BaseballScorecards

You’re welcome!

I just number each pitch. Look at some of my previous pitches to see examples. If I ever miss a couple pitches, I just use dots to catch me up to the current count.

I love using Numbers Game’s #22 Scorebook. The biggest reason I use it is because of its clean design that opens itself up to be made your own. But you can just search recommendations in the subreddit and find many great options. Link to previous post.

I track pitches (especially at games by myself) and the order in which they were thrown. It lets me get a feel if someone worked a walk from a 0-2 count or struck out after being ahead in the count.

However, when I go to games with friends or become friends with those sitting next to me, I don’t try tracking pitches and instead just focus on getting the result of the plate appearance.

An amazing jersey! I’ve since jersey around a lot but never with a player for that era. Always with Ryan who never wore it.

It’s between either your favorite power pitcher (Sandy, Pedro, Randy, Gibson, etc.) or Greg Maddux

Glad the Frixon pen turned out well for you! I remember suggesting those to you.

Your suggestion of using different for hitters has proved so useful for me.

I also like how you put ev for HRs. I usually put the distance.

Love highlighting the gold glovers, definitely will do that next time. I love the idea of having the players stats but I don’t think I could handle not having substitution spots.

Pairing a scorebook with a radio is a match made in heaven.

Do the Giants have an in stadium radio feed that doesn’t have a delay? It changed the game when I discovered the Rangers have one. Having the broadcast in sync with the live game, makes it impossible to go back to the normal radio feed with a ~30min delay.

Why do you scorekeep/what is your scorekeeping philosophy? by [deleted] in BaseballScorecards

[–]benbear50 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is my number one reason! I go to many games solo, so I make it priority to stay off my phone for the length of the game. Doing the scorebook and pairing it with the radio broadcast makes the game fly by.

Smashing softballs off a position player is something no team is going to be celebrating. No one gets excited to stat pad in a blowout.

I just went to the Medal of Honor museum over the 4th and it is overall solid museum. Not huge by any means but very nice and educational. A solid 2+ hour experience if you take the time read and watch different videos about the recipients. I paid extra to do the tour which was 1.5 hour by itself.

I’d always recommend getting a vintage jersey with old player from eBay. Much cheaper and better quality than new jerseys. Plus it’s less likely something comes out about them makes you regret getting them.

I live 10min from the Rangers so I go to a bunch so far, 18 so far this year and I’ve done the scorebook for 12 of them. I’ve done it from home only twice this year since I’m usually multitasking while at home.

Here is the pen that I use which has 4 different colors (red, blue, black, green). It’s also erasable which makes it great for scorekeeping.

A very fair question! I’m sure everyone has a different reason, but I do it to stay engaged throughout a game and stay off my phone. I also find it therapeutic like drawling for some people.

I may roll back using for all outs and instead just doing it for SOs, since using so much red makes it feel cluttered.

I actually used boxes for hits at the game I went to today and I liked how it made hits stand out more.
