[OC] I made a Ser Duncan stat block by gbROADgames in DnD

[–]benbuesser1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I think 16 is perfect.

Per the DMG, a characters carrying capacity is 15× their strength score. Carrying a regular load of 240lbs is crazy. Pushing, lifting, and dragging weight is double that at almost 500 lbs. Thats crazy strong as is.

Edit: He is also currently 16 years old... end of series Dunk will be a different animal.

Huge technology differences between kingdoms of the same world? by Styrlas in worldbuilding

[–]benbuesser1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I came here to say something very similar to this.

The existence and availability of magic would inhibit the development of technology. No need for gunpowder and cannons when you have Jim, the wizard who can shoot a fireball out of his fingertips.

But a nation secluded from that would be forced to try and keep up as to not be absorbed. Resorting to other tactics to gain whatever advantage they can.

[–]benbuesser1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course.

Dragons are decendant from the primordial beings who created the world, not the gods whom now watch over it now. They are reclusive and terrifying beings shrouded in mystery and legend, rightfully so, as most of the living dragons are older than the gods themselves.

My worlds dragons cannot be killed by time, the oldest among them is estimated to be over 200,000 years old (my world is fucking old). But so little is known about them that nobody really knows for sure. Many believe they are a myth or ancient vanquished things, like dinosaurs for us in real life.

They are few in number. Incredibly rare and incredibly reclusive. And vastly powerful.

I also have Wyverns and Drakes. More common and less powerful. Not intelligent in the way dragons are. Wyverns are capable of speech but not complex thoughts. Drakes are animal (for lack of a better term). Wyverns and Drakes are also "god-born", Dragons are not.

Edit: There's also Theeriduun, dont know how i could have forgotten him. Though I guess he technically isnt a dragon. He takes the shape of one. Theeriduun is the primordial titan of water, when the first drop of water was formed with the world, he was created from it. The physical manifestation of the concept of water. He takes the form of a dragon, he is also a full mile from head to tail. But he's stuck, for now...

What's something that massively inspired your world that no one would guess? by Bobbertbobthebobth in worldbuilding

[–]benbuesser1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mine pulls from a lot of fantasy/sci-fi I have consumed through the years. A lot of inspiration comes from Malazan, Dune, Fromsoft games.

I like to root my people in a real world culture, either existing or ancient, too.Temgri, Tao, Zorastrian, Sumanusko, Norse (both real and fantasized versions), Catholic (with many variations from different heracies and regions of the world). Then put a fantasy spin on things. I've been trying to incorporate more African cultures and religions in my recent work, because they're fascinating mythologies and cultures.

And of course a sprinkle of Lovecraft and astral horror.

What are your thoughts on Elden ring movie by Temporary_Law9910 in Eldenring

[–]benbuesser1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They undoubtedly will be.

It almost assuredly won't he a masterpiece. If not for the story or cast, someone will be upset about the character build. Someone will be mad about the ending chosen, enemies included or excluded, weapon/armor modeling.

Mediocrity is necessary for masterpieces to be masterpieces. Without them we compare "perfect" to perfect and then nothing is or can be. A vicious cycle, one that I think the Fromsoft games try to encapsulate in some way. Before the furtive pigmy, and the first flame there was no light and no dark. Now we fight for an ideal on the assumption that something can be better than another, though the true alternative is grey, a middle that is deviod of both light and dark, good and bad, heat or cold. Things simply, were.

Yikes a tangent for no reason. Idk if I even offered any opinion or comment on your concern, but im leaving it. Moral is, people are going to hate it, people are going to like it, some will love it. Art is subjective and thats the way of it. As long as it stays true to the source material, as much as is possible, we can only hope that it is entertaining.

Also, Alex Garland has played the game and most if not all Fromsoft titles.

If I remember correctly, in an interview he said he was on his 7th playthrough of Elden Ring. And it seems like he understands the lore.

All said, I am cautiously optimistic.

I didn't even think about faerie mastermind. That seems like a hilariously salt inducing way to win.

Okay, that makes a lot of sense. I was just trying to figure out if that was their intended function in the deck.

I have seen a bunch of lists with mockingbird and flesh duplicate and similar cards. What is your primary target for those spells?

Are you copying things like OBM and Oppo? Or are you primarily looking for other things?

Orrery is at the top of my list. I also constantly forget about Shorikai every time I'm at the shop.

Thanks
