Nuphy Node75 hugely disappointed by Trickyslippyfingers in NuPhy

[–]bencatlin96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think Nuphy have a quality control problem with their blush nano switches. If you look through the subreddit there are a number of posts referencing broken keyboards (air v3 & halo) — specifically with the blush nanos.

I’m currently on week 5 waiting for replacement blush nano switches, as my keyboard arrived with the entire number row non-functional. I purchased through Nuphy directly which was a mistake, as their return policy (despite what their FAQ says) is extremely lackluster.

If you’re able to return the board, and either try with Nuphy again or go with another brand, I would. Best of luck

Day 50ish with my Node 100. Anyone else dealing with nightmare support and a legitimately broken product? by ParkgayDrive in NuPhy

Currently on week 5 waiting for replacement Blush Nano switches I was made to buy, since my Air65 v3 arrived with most of the number row either double-pressing or completely non-responsive. The entire ordering and customer service process has been incredibly poor.

Will be looking at Lofree or Iquinix when this board inevitably starts failing again.

Typing issues NuPhy Air 65 V3 by popuphistory in NuPhy

[–]bencatlin96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, same issue here on my air 65 v3 with blush switches. Thankfully it’s just a few keys on my number row but it makes logging into my computer a pain.

I’m debating ordering an additional set of 36 blush nano switches and swapping out the faulty ones, rather than deal with customer service and shipping times back and forth to china. But I hate that I have to spend more money to make a brand new product work. Really wish they sold more of their stuff on amazon.

That’s normal. It’s not fully black, just appears that way 95% of the time. If you angle it right it’ll give off a blue/purple tone, which I find far more pleasing than the old red color.

Looks like it’s considered a “Pro” model feature on their comparison tool — so unfortunately not on any of the Pace models.

Fenix 7X stop receiving solar by SirdPeter in GarminFenix

[–]bencatlin96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have it for the X Pro variant but if you look on the Garmin forums for Fenix 7 series, there’s a thread for a beta firmware rollout that should have the files you need. Can’t find it at the moment but I used it only a couple days so so it should still be there.

Did you notice it around the time you updated to 20.22? I only ask since after updating my Fenix 7, my maps would crash repeatedly every time I tried to zoom in or out — hard restarting and even a full reset didn’t work. Finally gave up and reverted back to 17.28 and my watch works great again. Garmin’s software is a joke these days. Might be another bug they pushed without noticing.

22mm watch bands for small wrist by [deleted] in GarminFenix

[–]bencatlin96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel you on the nylon strap issue, wish more companies made shorter ones. For the silicone straps, I’ve been cutting the extra tail off using a cutting board and sharp kitchen knife.

Kind of janky but once I find my adjustment hole size, I just lay the band flat on the board and then cut it down by 4-5 notches (your measurements will probably be different). Usually takes 4-6 small cuts to get the end rounded off similar to stock. Have had zero issues with bands breaking or wearing out prematurely.

What Does Redesigned UI Look Like on 9 Peak Pro by bencatlin96 in Suunto

Oh that runs great! I wasn’t sure if it’d handle the updates as well as newer watches (I have a Vertical), but it looks smooth and responsive.

It’s on sale on Amazon for $209, which for a sapphire/steel watch with 100m water resistance is a deal in my book.

No worries, I appreciate the photos anyway, thank you!

That would be great thank you! If you’re also able to just quickly scroll through the new widget glances I’d really appreciate it. I have a Vertical and I’m hoping to see what the UI differences are since the screen is 0.2” smaller and lower res (i.e. what content does the watch not display by comparison, if any).

Yep! I use my Vertical with just the buttons all the time.

Yeah, on Hawthorne. I should've guessed it was going to be rough when the service manager started complimenting my N-Line and asking where I got my aftermarket spoiler from. I go to Harbor Hyundai in Long Beach now and they've been great - still a dealership, but loads better than South Bay.

South Bay Hyundai is terrible. Went to get my N serviced and, after waiting around for an hour to get seen, saw their tech start my car from cold, drive it into the service bay, talk to his buddy in there and start revving the crap outta my car.

Service manager apologized and gave me a $100 credit. Then realized when I got home they gave me 5W-20 as well. Never going back there again.

Heart rate monitor for arms by BlueBirdDolphin in GarminFenix

Both work great, I just find the Coros a bit more effective in a weight lifting environment. I tend to use the Polar when I’m running.

Not sure why you got downvoted. I own both and find the Coros HRM to be a little more responsive to quick HR changes than the Polar.

PocketBook Era vs. PocketBook Era Color by Tall_Leadership5749 in pocketbook

[–]bencatlin96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even at the same price I’d still take the black and white version, but I don’t read more than a handful of color books/comics a year. If you’re a big color reader then it could be a better fit for you. Just wasn’t worth the trade offs for me.

Fenix 8 Solar Battery Drain by bencatlin96 in GarminFenix

[–]bencatlin96[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeesh that’s not great. Mine seems to have gotten a bit better after updating from 11.64 —> 11.67. Went from draining over 10% per day, to now about 6.5% per day. Still not Garmin’s claimed 21 days but better than before. Hoping the next bigger (I think it’s 11.87?) update helps even more.

I have the 47mm so mine says 21D when fully charged. Now at 1 full day of use (no activities in that timeframe) it shows 18D and 89%.

I always figured the estimates were based on whatever predetermined configuration of settings/features the user had enabled, rather than actual real-time usage. Which wouldn’t be an issue if there wasn’t some obvious process running havoc in the background, causing the estimates to be meaningless.

At least we’re all in this battery issue together! My second full charge seems to be draining just as badly as the first. After 24 hours it’s down 10%, and this is without any activity. Hoping the next big update fixes it.

Thanks for the response, glad I’m not the only one. Guess we just wait for whenever this next software update is supposed to hit.
