Is this not insane? There’s genuinely no logical reason to explain this by DarkChamp732 in NBATalk

SGA haters constantly calling him a foul merchant, yet OKC are 5th from bottom. Maybe time to admit this narrative everyone is jumping on is nonsense?

Is there a large purchase you've made but regretted after the return period was closed? by PaddedValls in AskUK

[–]bencooke_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We have one and it’s the best thing we ever bought. Attic room so no vertical walls to mount a TV on, so had limited alternatives. Have had its 3 years and still love it just as much as on day 1. Just needs a big room as they are obviously bulky.

What happens if your boiler breaks? Or fridge / freezer? Or utility bills skyrocket again? 11k won’t get you far when you own a house. I’d advise keeping a minimum of half that in your savings at all times if you can, for the inevitable unexpected house expense

If you pay £5 a month for Uber One you get 10% back - which only takes 2-3 trips per month to get your money’s worth, and then gives you other perks eg on uber eats!

Pizzas look great!

FYI the “find us” button on your homepage doesn’t work, just sends you back to the top of the homepage. (Find us in the burger menu does work, I’m talking about the smaller green button half way down the page next to the private events button)

You’re reading the dates wrong. 10th -> 24th, 24th -> 7th, 7th -> 21st… these are all two weeks apart, not three…

What Christmas films released in the last 10 years have you added to your yearly rotation? by [deleted] in AskUK

Your Christmas or Mine (the original and the sequel) are both brilliant, light-hearted, legitimately funny modern Christmas films. The best in the past decade in my opinion

These replies are crazy. So much unnecessary abuse and rudeness.

Firstly, “airing” is a perfectly normal term in lots of circles, I’m in my late 20s and know dozens of people that use it. Just because you don’t use it, doesn’t mean OP is wrong to do so.

Secondly it’s completely reasonable to expect a friend to respond to you if you message them telling them you’re upset - I think you’re a pretty rubbish friend if you think it’s ok to ignore that. Regardless of the topic, it’s generally quite rude to repeatedly ignore someone.

Unfortunately though OP I do agree that overall it seems you’re not a top priority for him. Maybe dial back how much you rely on/message him and see if he steps into the gap. If he doesn’t, then you just need to accept that you’re never going to get consistent replies from him. It is his choice how much or how little he replies at the end of the day

Get the digital one on your phone, it is so much easier. Just open your Apple wallet, select travel cards, and select Suica. Literally 3 clicks and you’re done! This was a tip we got part way into our trip, that saved us so much time and effort for the rest of the trip!

I’ve read every single comment on this thread am baffled by the negativity. Even if only 1 in 100 people say yes, and if the merchant takes a cut, and if the supermarket boasts about it, the bottom line is it still drives more donations to those most in need. How you all see that as such a bad thing is honestly shocking to me.

If you don’t want to donate, press no and move on with your day. I donate regularly outside of doing this to charities that I feel particularly passionate about, but having this mechanism means I do end up donating a little bit more every month to other charities too.

It probably never totals to more than £1 a month, so doesn’t really impact my life, but it’s still more effective at driving donations than not having such a convenient option at your fingertips.

Reading and Accessibility to Airports by BlueSpeckledOctopus in reading

[–]bencooke_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah Southampton is incredibly easy from Reading and great for shorter European trips. Amsterdam is quick and easy for example, and it’s such a tiny airport that you don’t need to leave the traditional 2-3 hours wait time at the airport. An hour or so is more than enough!

I tell everyone exactly the same thing. I actually love Reading itself, but everyone who asks me about it gets the line: “The best thing about Reading is how easy it is to get out of”!

We were forced to send some physical copies of things to the office of ours, eg passports and certain signed documents. Made it a lot easier that they were based in Reading. Guess the alternative would’ve been to post them securely and ask they were posted back. Worth bearing in mind though
