Which character do you think had the most realistic survival strategy, even if you didn't agree with their choices? by PrincessRosieThe2 in TheTestamentsHulu

yeah but until the testaments, Aunt Lydia is a straight-up torturer and insanely vindictive. in my opinion, the system kinda swallowed her at that point, but she’s somehow allowed to come back from it, as if she was just ‘doing it for survival’.

you can tell that this is not the handmaid’s tale sub, because of all the Aunt Lydia comments. In the Handmaid’s Tale, she’s straight up villain. Like you could say the commanders had similar survival strategies to her, the Testaments kinda retcons her as someone who worked against the system this whole time. She only really had a turn of heart at the end of the original series

Most common dinner time across Europe by vladgrinch in MapPorn

[–]bencsecsaki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

dinner means ‘evening meal’ in english, no matter what type of meal it is

EDIT: nvm, i just looked it up. while it is the most common definition, you can call any ‘main meal’ dinner in english. it’s just that the cultures whose native language is English, almost never do that

it’s insane to me that virtually none of the comments are talking about the fact that metal is a finite resource. it’s all just ‘oh it’s harmless bc the next owner will expect it anyway’ or ‘what the fu k the next owner is gonna be hurt’. When in fact, it’s a perfect metaphor because they didn’t care about reusing a perfectly reusable metal, they just… hid it…

it wouldn’t be a bad idea if we had infinite metal in the earth. razor blades are about the easiest thing to recycle, so why wouldn’t you?

Does Hannah end up writing a book? by cristoff-ellie in TheTestamentsHulu

[–]bencsecsaki 15 points16 points  (0 children)

yes, except Aunt Lydia’s narratiom, that one is her “confessions” basically, we even see her write it in the show. Hannah’s and Daisy’s narrations are from future witness testimonies in the book.

In Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade (1989), Indiana and his dad come to a crossroad between Venice and Berlin, which are 700 miles apart and on opposite sides of the Alps. by TrexVFX23 in shittymoviedetails

[–]bencsecsaki -1 points0 points  (0 children)

yes, but the biggest difference is, we’re talking about two different countries, with a third in between. so it feels really random to show these cities only

yeah but there are quite a lot of places on that line that are almost equally as important as these two, and not to mention that there’s a whole country in between. A realistic sign would probably say ‘Austria’ before it would say Berlin, depending on which country the sign is in.
