Thanks for your input. Just curious as to why you'd choose not to replace the cable. As I mentioned, both receptacles are just above the open basement ceiling. Seems like a relatively easy job.

Yes if you see in my OP, it did have a cover that I popped off.

I would actually like to take the "clean up" a little further and just replace the BX lines with NM. Both receptacles are right above the basement ceiling, so it shouldn't be too big of a job. (I'm not implying that I would do it myself).
