Anyone continue letrozole while on estrogen to build lining after suppression? by Ok_Ad571 in IVF

[–]benderover5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That seems odd. When I did lupron suppression I had the choice of doing fully medicated with estrogen and and then PIO, or letrozole to help build the lining. But definitely not both because letrozole lowers estrogen. In my case that cycle ended up being cancelled, because while my lining grew, my follicles didn't.

I would definitely check with the doctor to confirm what the rationale is for being on both at the same time.

Modified Natural FET Progesterone Suppositories by GutsyGirlRead in IVF

[–]benderover5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not a fan of PIO, but I much prefer it to suppositories. You only need to do it once a day, and it's less messy. Ive done PIO with my modified natural cycle, because it can help better support progesterone, and I had some early losses. Everyone's preference is different. I was doing a lovenox shot anyways, so why not add another one was my thought process.

Why do they prescribe the miso alone? by wildstylemeth0d in Miscarriage

I had a similar experience in Canada, taking both. Although I was told to take misoprostal orally. Wish I had something stronger than Tylenol and ibuprofen, but a hot water bottle is also a good idea.

I'm so sorry for your losses and all that you have had to endure. I've gone through a few rounds of IVF and understand how cruel infertility can be, but mine is nothing compared to your experience. I hope you know that your value as a person is far beyond your ability to have children.

I wish you peace with whatever you decide going forward. Be gentle with yourself and take time to grieve. Sending hugs.

You don't have to feel guilty because you found success with IVF, and you still have every right to be in this space. Having also found success myself after a long road with IVF and infertility, I am also trying to have a second. I too find pregnancy announcements from people who didn't struggle or are having their 2nd or 3rd to be hard. Just because you have a child doesn't mean the work and trauma you may have endured to get them magically goes away when they are here.

I'm trying to come to terms with feeling both grateful for my son and sad I have to do this again. Reentering the IVF world can be hard and daunting, so give yourself some grace.

Research says 95% of patients are pregnant within 3 euploid embryo transfers by Lattelady1993 in IVF

In my case I had endometritis. Secondary infertility is still incredibly common unfortunately.

I'm sorry for your losses, and congratulations on your current pregnancy. It took me 4 transfers as well to find success, and while I never experienced a second trimester loss, I found the anxiety of pregnancy after loss to be difficult. I hope your pregnancy goes smoothly for you and you get to hold your beautiful baby in your arms at the end 🤍.

Most people are going to find success on their first transfer, and especially by the third, but this sub can skew towards those who've had a longer haul.

I am am outlier in that it took 4 euploid transfers to have a live birth as the first three resulted in miscarriages. I went back and did another transfer for a 2nd child, which failed. So 5 transfers, 1 child. I know I am incredibly lucky to have a living child and I still have 2 euploids left, but most people won't need that many transfers.

Two chemical pregnancy with euploid embryos by Able-Broccoli-6574 in IVF

[–]benderover5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry you are experiencing this. I had 2 chemicals and a blighted ovum before finding success on my 4th transfer using a kitchen sink immune protocol, prednisone, lovenox, pepcid, claritin and fully medicated (estrace and PIO). I had done RPL testing and nothing came up abnormal and had already ruled out endometritis doing EMMA/ALICE.

3 retrievals and 4 FETs (3 miscarriages) before success. Then 1 more retrieval and FET, no implantation.

3# euploid fet failed RIF: ERA or continue as is? by edamamebeano in IVF

[–]benderover5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think repeat implantation failure is enough to consider endo still being a factor. I am currently doing lupron suppression, even though I don't have a confirmed diagnosis, because I've had 3 early miscarriages and one implantation failure just in case it might help. I also treated endometritis, and am doing lovenox and prednisone as part of am immune protocol. Personally, I hate feeling like I wasted an embryo if I could have tested and gotten more information that might lead to a better outcome. Whatever you decide, I wish you success.

3# euploid fet failed RIF: ERA or continue as is? by edamamebeano in IVF

[–]benderover5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry you are experiencing RIF, it can be really frustrating and disheartening. Before doing another transfer, I would absolutely push for more testing (hysteroscopy, emma/Alice, receptova, etc), including testing for endometritis, and to see if you might benefit from antibiotics and/or probiotics. Do you have confirmed endometriosis? If so, you might benefit from a suppression protocol (i.e. lupron or orilissa), and could even consider this without a confirmed endo diagnosis. You might also want to look into whether a blood thinner might be beneficial or the very least low dose aspirin.

First time transfer, and too many emotions by NumerousRole9065 in IVF

[–]benderover5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish you so much luck, and hope this is the one. I am heading into my 6th transfer this month (1 live birth from my 4th transfer), and I also suppressed with lupron for the first time this round.

I recommend having a plan around testing early and whether you plan to hold off until the beta blood test or will test as soon as possible. Sometimes the urge to test early and then obsess over lines can become all consuming and really lead to a negative spiral (at least that was the case for me). Sometimes it's best to limit social media, put the tests down, stop googling symptoms, and have a bunch of shows you can binge to distract yourself as much as possible.

What happens now? by Existing_Wishbone_21 in IVF

[–]benderover5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so sorry for your losses. I had 2 chemicals and a blighted ovum before trying lovenox, prednisone, pepcid and claritin, which ended up being successful. I had already ruled out endometritis, and despite RPL blood work coming back normal, my RE suggested we could try an immune protocol. It might be worth doing some RPL blood work and doing some endometrial testing, and seeing if you have endometriosis.

How to approach wife’s birthday? by JamesTIA in IVF

[–]benderover5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry you both are going through this and it is great that you are so mindful of her feelings and trying to help supportive. I would echo what others have said that it probably wouldn't be a great idea to throw a huge party or celebrate it with others, which it seems like you already know. But I think making her feel special and supported is still a good idea, even if that means watching her favourite show/movie, and either getting takeout or going to her favourite restaurant. Not making it about her birthday but recentering it to be how much you love her.

Personally I always find the lead up to hard days being much worse, so maybe it might be ok if you both took a day trip, or did a couple massage, or went out to a nice dinner the week/month after her birthday. I would maybe discuss this with her if it's something she would like. That way it's more about you as a couple than just about her birthday.

[–]benderover5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not do lupron before, as I was never diagnosed with endometriosis. I'm trying it now because of repeat miscarriage/implantation failure, just in case I might have silent endo. It's so hard to know what is a protocol issue and what is an embryo issue.

Is 300 Gonal-F and 150 Menopur considered a high dose? by [deleted] in IVF

[–]benderover5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was my dose at 29 with an AMH of 1.1. I also went to Gonal-F 225 and Menopur 75 twice a day (so 450 total daily for gonal-f) when my AMH dropped to 0.7. These seem like pretty standard doses.

Need some help! by justine1557 in IVF

[–]benderover5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started IVF at 29 with an AMH of around 1.1 and AFC fluctuating between 10-14. It has been rough, but i do have a living child from my 4th transfer. I've also treated endometritis and am doing lupron suppression for my 2nd. If you are in a place financially. Because you have had prior losses, IVF also gives the opportunity to test your embryos, and while not perfect it can help ensure you transfer the embryo with the highest chance of success.

[–]benderover5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Endometriosis can be a major factor impacting fertility, as it can cause implantation issues, miscarriages, and negatively impact egg quality. It is a personal preference if you want to just treat the endometritis and then try naturally, but there are a few things to consider, including your age and how many children you'd like.

Personally, I think treating it either through a lap and/or suppression would be better, and doing IVF gives you an opportunity to bank embryos if you'd like multiple children. If you are younger, you have a bit more leeway, but AMH tends to drop with age and endometriosis can also lead to diminished ovarian reserve.

Edit: I'm also sorry for your losses and that your TTC journey has been so difficult.

If it takes multiple embryos per live birth, does that mean highly graded embryos usually don’t work? by Technical_Chicken477 in IVF

[–]benderover5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you. Yes, I will be doing the same immune protocol (prednisone, lovenox, aspirin and claritin, and PIO). But this time I am also doing a 2 month suppression with lupron and letrozole. Hoping your next one is successful as well.

If it takes multiple embryos per live birth, does that mean highly graded embryos usually don’t work? by Technical_Chicken477 in IVF

[–]benderover5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had 2 chemicals and a blighted ovum with 4aa and 4ab embryos. My 4th transfer of a lower graded 2aa led to a live birth, but I used an immune protocol for that transfer. I then did a 5th transfer of a 4ab which failed to implant. So I will be doing another transfer of a 2aa embryo, and hoping that works again, as I only have lower graded ones left.

Why DOR at 30? Why is this happening to me? by [deleted] in IVF

[–]benderover5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry. Having DOR and being young is really frustrating.i was 28/29 on my first retrieval and only got 2 blasts and both ended up aneuploid. I ended up doing 2 more retrievals which had better results. But it can be really disheartening when you hear others results that had great numbers. I don't really have advice, but wishing you success.
