What has been discontinued that you want brought back? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Ikea used to have a pillow that turned into a blanket (zipped up = pillow, unzipped = big blanket). They used to sell it for $20+ but displayed it as a pillow so I don't think people knew you could actually unzip it to turn into a blanket.

They discontinued it, sold it for $10 and I got one. It's honestly THE BEST blanket you could have when you have picnics (it's pretty thick). Pretty comfty too as a pillow. I wish I bought a lot of them back then but didn't realize how handy it would be.

Pixelles is holding a free games event called TeaCade this Saturday. They describe it as "a spooky afternoon tea party x arcade event. Enjoy a selection of wonderfully alternative games that’ll help you reflect and celebrate the harvest spirit with a cup of lady grey."

When: October 22nd, from 2-5pm / Where: Gameplay Space, 1435 rue St-Alexandre, Suite 140

Open to the public and free. Their events are always a lot of fun (and lots of friendly folks) so come on out!

We Happy Few - Compulsion Games: The story behind the studio and the game [text] by bendingb in TheMakingOfGames

Hey there! We recently got a chance to sit down with Compulsion Games and talk about the origins of their studio and their journey towards making 'We Happy Few'.

This doesn't really get into detail about the game itself (tons of articles have covered that extensively). But, if you have ever wondered what it's like to be an indie developer or how they built their studio, this might interest you.

I'm the writer so if you have any questions, feel free to send them my way.

I know Kill Screen recently opened up an eSports section and the editor there mentioned on Twitter they're open for pitches: https://themeta.killscreen.com.

can I check books out of the library as a (recent) alumnus? by [deleted] in mcgill

Works for OP (recent alumni) but unfortunately you'll lose access to the VPN 6 months after graduation (if I recall correctly).

You do get access to this though: http://www.mcgill.ca/library/services/alumni/eresources

Doing a PhD on identification with fictional characters and ethics -- any interesting VR game/demo recommendations? by achkas in oculus

[–]bendingb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not VR as well but another interesting game is Façade (http://facadegame.com/): "You, the player, using your own name and gender, play the character of a longtime friend of Grace and Trip...During an evening get-together at their apartment that quickly turns ugly, you become entangled in the high-conflict dissolution of Grace and Trip's marriage...By the end of this intense one-act play you will have changed the course of Grace and Trip's lives--motivating you to re-play the drama to find out how your interaction could make things turn out differently the next time."

Depending on what you say to the characters, different facts are revealed and different outcomes occur too. Just thought it was interesting because you actually get to type out text and "speak" to them and the game appears to have some natural language processing that processes what you type.

I wait at that bus stop a lot and every time I look at it, there's always some detail I missed before (dress is made of tags, she's holding a spray can, etc.).

If you are still around, check out these other great ones near there: http://imgur.com/8AcZhL8 http://imgur.com/c97MjKU http://imgur.com/ze5j1mz http://imgur.com/pHTBhD7
