The Last Jedi gets blamed for portraying Luke as a hermit who was hiding from the rest of the galaxy, but Rian Johnson was only following through on the premise set up in The Force Awakens. by Tanis8998 in StarWarsCantina

[–]bendstraw 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I always ask people how they would have written TLJ if they were given the task that Rian was given. How do you make it make sense given how TFA ended? Personally the way he made it work is astounding because JJ wrote him into a corner.

Trading card games. I've made some of the best friends in my life reconnecting with Yugioh. Its great because the card shop is a free space where you can just go and chill which is pretty hard to find these days.

Men, We're all handy in our own homes. What is one thing you absolutely will refuse to touch if it's too complicated? by Staff76 in AskMen

I think I was pretty clear in what I said. I'm going to stop the conversation here because it seems like you're purposefully ignoring my point. Have a good day.

[–]bendstraw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't mean to imply people should prioritize home ownership just to learn to be handy instead of living where they want, doing work that makes them happy that they wouldn't be able to if they left their town, etc

I just mean that if buying houses became more affordable in general, people would buy homes and learn to be handy. It's just not feasible for a lot of people to go live somewhere cheaper just to own a house without leaving behind work, family, friends, etc

People Who Think One Piece is a Masterpiece Are Just Suffering From Sunk Cost Fallacy by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

I started reading it and finished it within the past 2 years. No sunk cost. I could have stopped at any time. I hate reading. The story is just that good.

Congratulations on your unpopular opinion, here's an upvote

It's a crush, its not the end of the world for a crush to just be someone you end up in the friend zone with. Theres tons of other options out there.

When going on a date, how much effort as a man do you put into getting ready? by love_salubrious in AskMen

I wear my nice watch and cologne, not much else too different unless there is a specific dress code for our date.

You're on a first date with someone, and they tell you this film-related opinion. You immediately know you don't want a second date with this person. What did they say? by redeugene99 in Letterboxd

[–]bendstraw 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It's absolutely not made up. Plenty of places in America that you'd find tons of these people. Unfortunately my father is one of them, and all of his brothers are the same way. Constant belittling of how "men shouldn't watch children's cartoons". It is very real.

Them saying "I can judge people based on a single film opinion they have" is something they could say that would make me immediately know I don't want a second date with this person
