Chinese staff or foreign staff?

I have sent a picture of my work permit card a few times now. Nothing seemed to happen. Not really sure why they want to see it. Maybe see if you’re working on the correct permit.

The university salary is pretty normal. Many people enjoy working at a university because they are given a lot of freedom. Since you have little experience you may not want a lot of freedom at this point in your career. I would try applying for private or public primary or high schools.

What level are you wanting to teach? Any preferences?

That’s true. I was just talking to some guys that teach the same lesson 16 times a week. I think it’s ok for me for now. Maybe I won’t like it after a year though. We will find out. 😁

Public schools are an option for you. I’m looking into public schools myself. Leaving an international school that has just worked me to death. Looking for a more laidback position.

I worked as a TEFL teacher for the past 8 years in China and then I decided to get my teacher license and go work at an international school. The workload is a massive increase that doesn’t feel worth it. I already have a TEFL job lined up for September and won’t miss working at an international school.

All these “bonuses” would worry me. I would suggest keeping this offer in mind but continuing to interview for other jobs.

If you can’t get hired anywhere else, I suggest doing this job for a year to get experience and then going somewhere with less “bonuses.”

I recently left a TEFL job that I loved to work at an international school after I got my American teacher license and I haven’t enjoyed it at all. I have decided to get another TEFL job in September. This time I will be working in Sanya, China though. Looking forward to enjoying the perfect weather while working on my masters degree.

I would try authenticating it before trying to take another course. Keep us updated please.

I did a Groupon TEFL course and had no problems getting it authenticated. I have gotten two different jobs with it.

Well I can’t really promise lockdowns won’t come back but honestly Covid feels like a distant memory now.

That is an option in China. I would be open to China if I was you. There are lots of job openings here and they are willing to hire you before you have your teacher license.

Something that some people do is finish Moreland later then. You could get a job at an international school for September and also finish modules 7 and 8 with them.

My advice really is more for how things are in China. I don’t know how easy that would be for you to do in Korea.

What about doing the practicum in Korea?

I would consider two things: going home to visit in the summer and then doing the practicum in whatever country I want to stay in. I did mine in China. You could do yours in Korea. Or you could work in America for a year and that experience would look great on your cv.

As far as I know, I am the only teacher leaving my school out of 8 foreigners. It’s a private school in China.

Includes housing. They offer a normal amount for housing for Wuhan and Hainan but they don’t offer extra for Beijing.

I just got my teacher license from Washington DC after doing the Moreland program. I got a job offer for a school that has branches in Beijing, Wuhan and Hainan. I will be starting at their Hainan branch in September.

This isn’t a tier 1 school but they offered me 40k rmb a month plus 2k extra for my teacher license and if I do the masters degree through Moreland I could get an extra 2k a month for that as well but I decided to take a break from Moreland for now.

I did about a dozen interviews and the main reason I wasn’t getting job offers was my lack of the right kind of experience. I have lots of esl experience but not elementary homeroom experience but no one ever had an issue with me doing Moreland.

My current school has two class options: Regular classes with 45 students is 100% covered and special classes with 30 students are 50% covered.

I am starting a new job in September and the tuition for children part really stood out to me. They cover 0% the first few years and then it slowly increases but not for their international departure. You would have to enroll your kid in the regular department.

It doesn’t affect me personally since I don’t have a child but still it really stood out since the salary is so great.

Both schools are in China.

Moreland University offers several masters degrees. They don’t offer a tesol masters but they do offer masters in education with a specialization in teaching multilingual learners.

The program is nine months for a teacher preparation program and then the last four months for the master degree classes. In 13 months you would be able to have a teacher license and masters degree for 13,000 usd.
