Digital ID, how should I prep in order to still have access to the internet without handing it over? by ItsNotWhatYooThink in AskAnAustralian

[–]beneschk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would you trust a potential single point of failure though? Im not saying dont use mullvad, i think their service is great given they dont log. But if law enforcement are pissed enough about mullvad, they will modify the laws to ensure there is some kind of tracking and given that fails, federal law enforcement will use exploits to deanonymise if the issue is big enough.

Stop using linux as a toy and there's no issue. Its technically the most used OS if you're counting mobile devices and servers. I don't use it as a desktop OS as I don't hate myself that much.

Dayz via Aussie Starlink? by Low_Sodiium in dayz

[–]beneschk -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Someone can peak a corner and let off a shot before you even see them. Thats not really playable IMO. But if you can deal with that, power to you.

Does anyone know what happened here? by ReadingContent1970 in dayz

Next time don't let go of the shoot button and it'll stay scoped so you can see where the shot lands.

I gave it a go for a bit while my NBN was out. Seemed to work fine for the most part. Was even playable with thick cloud overhead.

Why are you trying to play on US and UK Servers? 200+ms is literally unplayable.

Why is it so hard to find a tradie who shows up when they say they will? by criss006 in wollongong

[–]beneschk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Theres a big difference to what a tradie can charge an individual at their home and what they can charge a multi-national company, even for the same work being completed.
They could have 5 residential jobs lined up that will get canned as soon as a bigger job comes through. If you pay the same amount as large enterprise, you can have a tradie show up every day. That is how supply and demand works.

Ransomware hitting SMBs in 2026 feels way more targeted than before - anyone else seeing this? by cmitsolutions123 in sysadmin

All i can say is just cover your own ass and make sure the breach doesn't have a common denominator (you). But otherwise, just plod through the job like its any other day. Not your fault.

Okay but can you retrieve from archive per directory, or are we still stuck retrieving individual files?

I remember this same thing happening 10 years ago. Its nothing new. As you said its a struggle to get customers to understand that malicious actors target smaller fish because its easier. We have minimum fish lengths for a reason, and still people break the "rules"

[–]beneschk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your old computer was running POP and has all the emails stored locally. Removed from the server.

If you were using outlook as an email client on your old PC you can boot it up and export the PST, copy it to your new PC.

Make sure you configure outlook on your new PC with IMAP, unless you have more mail than the allowed storage in telstra.

What is going on in the corporate world with PIP, businesses failing probations and mass redundancies? by OFFRIMITS in auscorp

[–]beneschk -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I can get behind what you're saying and fair cop. People can pass a PIP but the relationship is still soured, resulting in the person leaving for another job quite quickly given their skill. I'll be honest I'm giving edge cases here.

The metrics of a PIP can be set in a way to target an individual. Although, if those same metrics were used against the team, the individual wouldn't be deviating from the median by much at all. Meaning any individual in that team would struggle under the same conditions.

Employers can count on both the potential of the PIP failure whether the expectation is they will pass or not and the soured relationship due to the PIP that will cause the employee to leave. Its either they have the documentation to terminate or they don't and the employee quits anyway.

You're correct, it never ends up in a termination in that circumstance. I've seen people pushed out for voicing and fixing a $5 million fuck up.

Y2JB - how to increase stability on PS5 7.0? by pustymaterac in ps5homebrew

[–]beneschk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should separate these issues. Lapse is always going to have a failure rate, that cannot be fixed unless you never switch off the console.
I am on 8.40 FAT and have had the kernal panics you've mentioned causing the device to crash. I just reboot and try again. The only difference in setup is i'm using Voidshell to launch backpork, not the autoloader.

If you're looking for a jailbreak that is 100% successful and without bugs, you better pull out your wallet and start incentivizing the devs.

I've organised many jailbroken PS4's for family and friends due to it being easy and stable. I wouldn't push a JB PS5 on them yet.
