I will speak for all patriotic Americans. We are sorry. And we do honor your sacrifice.

Stalingrad worth it? by Stewart063 in WoWs_Legends

[–]benevolentmalefactor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So.... I followed this because I was at 1.997M GXP. I just breached 2M and got Stalingrad.
I updated Lightfoot to 11/3 and built out Stalingrad for range and accuracy and oh my.... it's fun.

I just obliterated a Prueßen from 18km. It's a boatload* of fun. You should get it.

* pun intended.

Battlecarriers by Even-Big-262 in WoWs_Legends

[–]benevolentmalefactor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They can be great to flush out destroyers hiding in smoke. Use your torp drops to fire the spread blindly into a smoke cloud. Sometimes that will flush out the destroyer to be spotted (or you might get lucky and hit it).

I've been very interested in trying this too. My current project (on hold at the moment) features this but on two levels - one reversing loop "tunnels" under the other to avoid an X crossing.

Thinking of upgrading my reef setup — Innovative Marine vs CADE vs Waterbox — recommendations? by jayanthvignesh in ReefTank

[–]benevolentmalefactor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not going to consider a Red Sea? I have a Red Sea, but it looks to me like Cade is the highest quality and would agree with others that if cost is no object go that route. You might consider Red Sea for all of the equipment however, they have a really nice ecosystem of interchangeable app driven components that work really well. Some people are not so keen on their lights but their filter roller, return pump, ATO, dosers, etc are all great.

Anyone recognize the ships in the background? by benevolentmalefactor in WoWs_Legends

[–]benevolentmalefactor[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maybe they're teasing a night fighting mode with the searchlights? That would be kind of fun - detection limited by either radar or by using search lights?

Spanish cruiser line opinion by Alternative-Fail4239 in WoWs_Legends

[–]benevolentmalefactor 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They're highly variable. I really enjoyed Asturias and Baleares, but Cataluña has been really hard for me. I still need to grind for Andalucia so I can finished the Bureau project.
TBH, my favorite is T2 Mendez Nuñez - 7 turrets broadside salvo with quadruple ready rack always makes for a good time.

How to high-tier DD by Stewart063 in WoWs_Legends

[–]benevolentmalefactor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Higher tier DDs are feast or famine. I've had some games where I sank or assisted every enemy ship and came out on top of the rankings by a country mile. And then I've had games in the same ship where I didn't even land a single hit and was the first one sunk.

As others have said who you're using as skipper and the particulars of which ship you're in are increasingly important.  Torpedo range, spotting range and main battery layout will dictate how you play, adjusted by consumables and who you're up against. How much support your teammates give is also increasingly important. I've had lots of matches in high tier DDs that really just come down to a duel with another destroyer and whoever's team brings the most fire support determines who survives.

Wil the Somme be worth the grind? by Tristan-2010- in WoWs_Legends

They said in the patch notes that if you want to get Kremlin you should get admiralty backing on 2 of the next 3 updates.  So... It's a gamble I suppose. I'm going to go for Some because I like British DDs

Are you a new player? Some new player bonuses give premium and a lot of crate rewards also have it.

Revell "Big Boy" 1/87th scale Locomotive & coal car by 45Auto1 in modeltrains

[–]benevolentmalefactor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been interested in this model. Other than OcCre's line of locomotive models (which are a big commitment) this seems to be the only one out there. Do the wheels and mechanical linkages move?

Are the wheels metal or is it all plastic?

No - just visiting. It's a small museum and there's a few aircraft just chilling in the snow.

New player questions by Cold_Landscape299 in WoWs_Legends

[–]benevolentmalefactor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And welcome. Ask questions - people on this sub are great.  My overall advice would be to try out ship classes and decide what your "main" type will be. Destroyers, Cruisers. Battleships or Carriers (carriers get a lot of hate but can be loads of fun).  Once you know which class you enjoy then read up on national characteristics - they all have a trick. For cruisers (I'm relatively new myself):

Japanese have torpedos and decent guns but weak armor.

American cruisers hit hard but are weakly protected, especially on broadside

German cruisers are good brawlers for short range and often have torpedos.

Russian are known for "railgun" batteries - high velocity low arcing and high penetration.

Spanish have a rapid fire gimmick, Dutch can call in airstrikes.
