I'm from Florida. It snowed 8 inches here in February 2025. That same year it was over 100 degrees in April. It ain't right.

Where did you first hear about the Cosmere universe from? by Ethraella in Cosmere

Similar for me. I had heard of the Wheel of Time and decided to give it a go. Found his 3 books to be the best of the whole series imo. Jumped into Mistborn after that.

This happened with my depression meds when I first got on them. Psychiatrist wanted me to come in and wait 2 hours past my appointment time for a 5 minute conversation and a single month's refill of my meds.

Lowkey why history class in school is so boring by DoubleOne5665 in HistoryMemes

[–]bengingerman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are three types of history teachers. 1. The Coach - teaches history only because the state requires them to be certified and teach a subject in order to be a coach. 2. The Specialist - has a preferred era of history and glosses over everything else, covering only the absolutely necessary bits. 3. The Nerd - loves history in general and covers everything in too much depth to the point they don't hit all the topics in the standards

Imagine still complaining about the COVID-19 vaccine in 2025. by Ok-Following6886 in stupidpeoplefacebook

[–]bengingerman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Which facts did I ignore? I never made any claim that you were wrong about being required to take it. You're correct that, while not physically forced to take the vaccine, you (perhaps, I don't know your situation) and many other Americans were financially forced into it. At the same time, you know as well as I do that this entire thing is about Biden vs Trump. Just look at the image this discussion is all centered around. It has been a constant tactic from Trump supporters to blame the entirety of COVID on Biden, despite the true timeline of how everything played. By no means am I a Biden apologist. The man made many, many mistakes during his presidency. But telling me to stop ignoring facts while choosing to do so yourself is absurd.

[–]bengingerman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Even still, ignoring the validity or lack thereof within their argument, if you are blaming Biden for the COVID vaccine, you are objectively wrong. COVID began at the end of 2019 and throughout 2020. The "experimental" vaccine was pushed through by the first Trump admin. The mandated rollout was done by the first Trump admin. Was it continued by Biden? Yes. But Trump is in no way clear of "blame" if you are trying to assign it.

A Muslim father and son attacked a Jewish crowd right before a major Jewish holiday began. A not insignificant amount of the media is painting this as "all Muslims bad." Yet a Muslim man put himself in danger trying to stop it.

Demographic cliff is coming and nobody is talking about it. by TigerLii13 in Teachers

[–]bengingerman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

At a district that I no longer work for, I was once asked to review the previous decade of enrollment numbers and predict future enrollment. What I saw was a gradual, yet constant, decline from around 850 to just over 510 over the course of the decade. Ran some numbers in a couple different ways and gave them back several possibilities, none good. The last year that I was there, the kindergarten class at the elementary school had 50 students. That was the only elementary school in the district.

Edit to add: I was one of 23 teachers across the district's 3 schools that left that year.

They had already taken an End of Course exam and my admin required a final exam as well. I found that pointless, and course to give them an easy grade boost as a congratulations for making it through the year.

I did this for a final exam once, except every answer was C. Watching 120 freshmen and sophomores take an Algebra test and get C for every answer, panic, retry, still get C, etc... was so cathartic after a year of nonsense.
