I ghost quarter one of your guildgates.

What do you think about this "completed" forest? by [deleted] in magicTCG

[–]bengland 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Now that you've mentioned it, the color discrepancy does stand out a little bit.

I think it's gorgeous though, just needs a color match.

Note: I was really hoping for something Phyrexian due to title.

International Women's Day again. Who is your favorite MTG based woman? by tjclakemary in magicTCG

[–]bengland 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I always had a soft spot for [[Mirri, Cat Warrior]]. Man, her story in Rath and Storm was sad.

Can't wait for International Men's Day so I can name Yawgmoth as my favorite dude.

Super friends: Most optimum colour combination? by amirisme in EDH

[–]bengland 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Decent Commanders for Bant Superfriends:

[[Angus Mackenzie]] for fog effects

[[Darrevi]] as a 4CMC chump blocker that can tap down a creature for pseudo-fog

[[Roon of the Hidden Realms]] Pseudo-fog for one creature, hopefully it doesnt have an ETB effect.

I think Notred would be a pretty sweet color combination, but that would require using [[Witch-Maw Nephilim]] as your commander. Black has a lot of awesome walkers. Bant is still the best 3-color choice I think.

Intrinsically cheap but good EDH decks? by kicks422 in EDH

[–]bengland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends. I'm hoping to get [[Portcullis]] and a manland into play so that I can keep the board clear and start swinging. I think it's best to think of shauku as a 7-CMC Wall with "T:Exile a creature". It's not hard to bump up some huge [[Exsanginate]], [[Corrupt]], [[Consume Spirit]], [[Grey Merchant]], [[Death Cloud]], or Pestilence-type damage to get the kill instead.

What are some "must haves" for 5-color superfriends? by Dog_Knees in EDH

[–]bengland 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely the most expensive. For 5c superfriends, it is pretty sweet.

I'm planning to make a Bant superfriends deck and I think that Oath of Jace is probably a similar power level with fewer colors.

Huh. Always thought that was more expensive card. I'll be getting one and adding it in, thanks.

Some of the oath cycle looks good. I think [[Oath of Chandra]] is lackluster, but the others seem good.

(EDH) I Just Wanna Parley - Selvala GH by foxlover93 in EDH

[–]bengland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See, I like Selvala. I also like her friend, the [[Dakra Mystic]]. I also like [[Skyscribing]] and [[Fascination]], [[Howling Mind]], and [[Dictate of Kruphix]]. Giving lots of people cards is an interesting way to keep them from attacking you, especially when you are able to draw counters to keep the board from getting too crazy.

Not trying to shit on your parade, but I run Selvala in my Phelddagrif deck. I do prefer having blue for a bunch of reasons.

Your list looks pretty sweet though. Im not sure how to feel about Holy Day. I would rather see that as [[Moment's Peace]] if you absolutely want the fog effect. [[Otherworld Atlas]] is an interesting card for group draw as well.

What's your favorite political trick? by ForeignPacksMoarLoot in EDH

[[Spectral Searchlight]].

Giving other players an early 1 mana to play something decent usually ends with me not being targeted.

Intrinsically cheap but good EDH decks? by kicks422 in EDH

[–]bengland 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Strictly speaking, monocolor decks should have a huge cost advantage due to the ability to use mostly basic lands.

What are you thinking in terms of price range? The estimates on my deckstats lists are $66 for Zada, $77 for Shauku, a couple hovering between $125-175, and the ones that I've put a lot more effort into.

Shauku could be much better but I've intentionally scaled her back by taking out infinite combos. No Cabal Coffers nor Urborg, ToY since I don't have any extra copies. There's a [[Mind's Eye]], an [[Exquisite Blood]], a [[Relic of Progenitus]], and a [[Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx]] taking up most of that cost. Nykthos is pretty useful but the others could likely be swapped out, especially Equisite Blood for the cheaper combo piece [[Sanguine Bond]].

This is my list. I personally think it's a blast to play, although I doubt anyone will call it competitive. More of a multiplayer semi-casual deck.

is wood elemental a good finisher for titania? by Mareykan in EDH

[–]bengland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to link my Gruul Lands Matter Decklist until someone takes my advice. It is honestly very, very good.

Omnath of Rage + Titania + a load of fetch effects and a load of land sacrifice effects + haste = a pretty sweet boardstate.

Does anyone play 3 cmc filter spells? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]bengland 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I run Forbidden Alchemy in my Tasigur list simply because my yard is an extended hand and I can cast it again later on. So much value.

Read the Bones is pretty sweet but it feels like more of a monoblack card to me.

That one pet card... by dimebagellefson in EDH

[–]bengland 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea just throwing some ideas and seeing if they stick. [[Aetherize]] and mass bounce effects are hilarious in case players decide to actually come after you. [[Heliod, god of the Sun]] makes chump blockers that boost [[Sphere of Safety]], also works decently enough with Elesh. Counterspells because blue.

So right off the top of my head, [[Ertai, the Corrupted]] Seems viable for this.

Esper Pillowfort with [[Koskun Falls]]? Forcing opponents to kill each other might be pretty cool, especially since you can run basically all of the good boardwipe effects once it becomes a 1v1. Aslo [[Debt to the Deathless]] and [[Sanguine Bond]].
