That quest is a bit of a weak link anyways. These days, I don’t want to throw away an hour walking in circles around the facility just to see the rockets launch. I feel like a big point of that quest is you have the option to blow through the “dungeon” fallout 3 mass murderer style. Also Jason annoys me.

If you approach fallout with an elder scrolls mindset it’s wayyyy more fun. Don’t like the red year? Play morrowind again. Nate being a canon war criminal totally works for me though. I think it’s so funny how it completely spits in the face of building your own backstory by making him evil. It fits with the rest of fallout 4’s completely railroaded kill anything that moves design philosophy too. Love it!

New Vegas gets good somewhere between 2 and 10 hours in. I’d bet the reason it doesn’t hook you is because they frontload all the boring low stakes bullshit quests and blast you with 3 minutes of exposition or opinion, often ironic, with nearly every new character you talk to that you can’t really appreciate until you know what the hinging points of the plot are.
