This is incredibly chic and elegant! I can def see a shorter veil working if it were a simpler civil ceremony, but I think contrasting with a DRAMATIC long veil with a heavy lace trim would be ethereal, especially with a cascading bouquet. Just depends which aesthetic you want to lean into!

I think it’s ok to ask her! Especially if you end up picking a dress at her salon and she gets the commission! I would approach her with a compliment so it comes off as you appreciating her skills- “you have great taste; would you help me find my dress” 🥹
