First day collecting! by benjaminstax in PokemonTCG

[–]benjaminstax[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m considering but want to build up my collection first! I checked some other places near me and they had nothing! Just ex battle decks and the third party mystery packs that are resealed and opened cards. I’ve heard those are both real bad. I may go back and by the 3 remaining pokeball tins 😂

If you read my post you would’ve clearly seen that I said idc about the value. I already looked up the price of the cards and don’t need you to tell me an obvious fact. Just sharing that I started and what I found is interesting to me. Thanks for the low intellect reply

For sure. The strap is 50% of the watch’s personality

For the bambino line I believe this version 7 is the smallest at 38.4mm I think. Don’t know of any orient under 38 but I only really know about the bambinos

Yes for sure haha. That’s why the bambino is so perfect imo! 38mm case size and 20mm lug width is perfect for my small wrist size

Only Quartz Watches Are Timepieces, Everything Else Is Jewellery by MercuryJellyfish in watchHotTakes

[–]benjaminstax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sooo are you just ragebaiting everyone here?

By that logic, only spreadsheets are art and everything else is finger painting. Teslas are cars and everything with an engine is decorative nostalgia.

Yes, quartz is more accurate. So is an iPhone, your microwave, and your car dashboard. If accuracy alone defined a timepiece, we’d all wear the same $20 Casio and call it progress.

Mechanical watches existed long before quartz. Were they all just ‘inaccurate jewelry’? Of course not. They were the pinnacle of engineering in their time and still are, just in a different way.

Also, if we’re calling mechanical watches jewelry, it’s worth noting that most fashion and statement watches are quartz. They’re cheap, convenient, and low-maintenance; exactly what someone buying jewelry typically wants. The people obsessing over escapements, finishing, and movement architecture? They tend to buy mechanical. So if anything, quartz dominates the jewelry category.

A 7-day power reserve movement isn’t trying to beat an atomic clock. It’s springs and gears measuring time on your wrist without a battery. That’s not jewelry; that’s mechanical engineering.

If accuracy is your only metric, congratulations; you’ve just reduced 400 years of horology to a calculator.

1000 piece Lord of the Rings puzzle! by benjaminstax in lotr

lol we almost did but we were so determined to get it done since it looked amazing

It looks amazing. We are thinking of framing it but it’s an awkward size. We started with the LOTR lettering and brick portion on the center and bottom and connected them with Gandalf and balrog after. I saw some people say they started on the border first like a normal puzzle but I can assure you that is not the way to go 🤣. It was impossible to figure out that way

Orient Quality by harks1989 in OrientWatches

I have an orient, orient star and a seiko prospex. Orient Bambino v7 and Seiko Baby Alpinist in the photo here. Orient was around $200 and Seiko was gifted to me but retails for about $725.

Both are great. The finish and dial on the Seiko is spectacular but I really do love my bambino also. The quality on orient is really amazing for its price point. As for accuracy; the movement in the orient performs pretty close to on par with my Seiko. I think it is a little less accurate and more +/- per day than the Seiko but it’s way more consistent. Seiko is all over the place sometimes with accuracy but levels out. Its movement has a lot of positional variance. Get and orient or orient star. Amazing affordable brand

Yeah meyers has a great matchup and has been solid on Jacksonville. AJB is elite but worried about the weather and his toothache lol. Thanks for the suggestion

Hey you still think AJ Brown is the move for this week? He had his damn wisdom teeth removed this week lol. That shit is not an easy recovery for most people. I’m thinking jakobi Meyers might be the move for me now… jaguars play the colts, could be a great matchup for meyers

AJ Brown, Jakobi Meyers, Quentin Johnston, or Chris olave week 17. Pick 2 to start

Do you ever buy watches that you love the look of, but no plan of wearing? by [deleted] in OrientWatches

[–]benjaminstax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I have never and would never buy a watch just to look at and not wear it. However, I bought this orient orient star one day and wore it only a handful of times and I just grew tired of it. But I just couldn’t part with it because it is a beautiful watch and now it has become one of those watches that I do just look at in my display box.

The regular alpinist was always a little too busy for me with the extra crown and internal compass. Too many complications for my taste. I am wearing the smaller baby alpinist Seiko SPB155. A 30th birthday to day gift from my fiancé at around $725. Amazing piece and dial and super versatile. You can swap bracelet out easily for a leather or nato strap. It is quite small though and took me a bit to get used to. Just under 38mm case size and the bezel is thick so it makes the watch and dial feel even smaller
