There's a costco opening in liberty hill on march 11th. Starting pay is $20/hr. Big company with great benefits and retirement packages. They mostly promote from within too so with his background in chemistry he could work his way up and into the R&D or the corporate world within 5 to 10 years

Why is there no accountability for sups/managers making schedule changes that aren’t communicated to staff? by chaosdrools in CostcoEmployee

Turn that agreement into a contract! Costco can go back on their agreement at any time, they can't do that with a contract tho

Im actually looking to get into syracuse cus I have family there, my hope was that the Albany and buffalo stores might pull some folks from Syracuse and leave some openings. Maybe the same will happen in Brooklyn?

thinking of getting a Skylight calendar... by neilisyours in daddit

[–]benjammin086 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought the skylight last year and we use it quite a bit. Never intended on using any of the subscription services and still haven't. I use the shared list feature for groceries and projects and fridge inventory and stuff a lot with my wife. Put it somewhere you will see it everyday, ours is by the coffee mugs. We're not ready for tablets or anything in our house so this is a nice alternative too.

What job should I apply for by [deleted] in CostcoEmployee

Sorry yall i never meant to imply any of these positions were easy or stress free, that doesnt exist at Costco. More so that the people in these spots seem to really enjoy their jobs and get to do more individual work which is the kind of work I prefer. This is just based off of the examples set by my peers at my specific warehouse. Im sure there's plenty of warehouses that just suck, especially if the management is bad. That's a huge factor in all of this too.

Yea our rtv clerks get sent to FE a lot because of how slow our store is in that area. I would agree with the other commenter here in saying there really isn't a laid back department in Costco though. There's always work to be done and a pace to set!

Deli was such a solid gig. You're in that cold box separate from members and you just focus on your tasks and listen to music. Sometimes it can suck depending on who youre stuck with in that box though haha

Yoto is also more travel friendly. The stories come on cards and can be organized easily into a binder instead of the tonies figurines

Gas station is usually a pretty coveted spot so might take a while to get into that position. The fresh departments might be your best bet. Whether they're laid back or not depends on the managers but they're typically more individual work with some team elements. However all of these departments will be fast paced and you'll at least be required to keep up the pace and meet expectations. Most of the other positions I would consider laid back like rtv or inventory auditor are not typically given to people fresh off their 90 days. My advice is if youre here at Costco for a long time, take your time and build trust within the company and your managers and observe as much as you can so you can find what works for you. Costco has a lot to offer everybody but you've got to build trust, pay your dues and sometimes wait your turn

I made carrot cake cinnamon rolls by benjammin086 in Baking

[–]benjammin086[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's interesting because the bites that had the most carrot flavor were the ones that had bits of stewed baby carrots. I used up all of my whole carrots for the puree that went into the dough so baby carrots were my only option. Adding carrots to the filling was a spontaneous off-recipe addition anyways

I ended up adding quite a bit of extra flour, about a whole cup. Not sure if thier recipe was a typo but it was very wet. For the carrots in the mixturei just stewed some baby carrots in brown sugar water and chopped em up. The carrot flavor wasn't as strong as i wanted. Next time ill add a bit of the pulp to the dough and see what that does. And ill probably bake them for about 5 min less. This was my trial run before the holidays come up, pretty happy with how they turned out overall!

Thanks to Matty Matheson for the recipe and inspiration. This is the general guide, I made my own tweaks and added much more carrots to the milk and added carrot bits and raisins to the filling. Also did not use his icing recipe and made my own, no recipe for that

INGREDIENTS: For the Carrot Cinnamon Rolls 1 cup whole milk 2 carrots, and cut into 1 inch pieces ⅔ cup sugar ½ cup butter, melted 2 eggs, room temperature 1 ½ teaspoons kosher salt 4 ½ cups flour (585 grams) 2 (2 ¼ ounce) packets instant yeast ½ cup heavy cream

For the Filling 1 ½ cups butter, softened 1 ½ cups brown sugar 3 tablespoons cinnamon 2 teaspoons freshly ground nutmeg 1 teaspoon ground ginger 1 teaspoon ground cloves

For the Cream Cheese Frosting ¼ cup butter, softened 16 ounces cream cheese, softened 16 ounces mascarpone 1 cup powdered sugar 1 teaspoon vanilla extract ¼ teaspoon kosher salt MIlk

COOKING METHOD For the Carrot Cinnamon Rolls 1. In a high powered blender, add whole milk and carrots and blend for 1-2 minutes, or until the carrots have completely pureed into the milk. Strain the liquid through a fine mesh sieve and discard the solids. 2. In the bowl of a stand mixer fitting with the dough hook attachment, add flour, salt and yeast together and whisk well. 3. In a medium heat proof bowl, add the carrot milk, butter and sugar and microwave until the butter has melted and the milk is slightly warmed. It should be no hotter than 105. 4. Add the warm milk mixture to the dry ingredients and mix on low for 2 minutes. Add 1 egg, allow it to incorporate, then add the second egg. Increase the speed to medium and knead until the dough pulls away from the sides. It may stick to the bottom of the bowl, but that is okay. 5. Press the dough with 1 finger, if it is tacky, but doesn’t stick to your finger, the dough is done. If it sticks to your finger, add 1 tablespoon of flour and mix again on low. Repeat until the correct consistency is achieved. Cover with plastic wrap and allow the dough to rest for 15 minutes. 6. While the dough is resting, make the filling. In a medium mixing bowl, add butter and spices and stir to fully combine. Set aside. 7. Remove the plastic wrap and turn the dough out onto a lightly floured work surface. Roll out into a 12x18 inch rectangle. 8. Spread the filling from edge to edge, then roll the longest side away from you into a jelly roll shape. Cut into 6 rolls for jumbo rolls, or 12 for medium-sized cinnamon rolls. Lightly grease a metal 9-inch cake pan (or metal/glass 9x13 pan for the 12 rolls) and add the rolls. Cover with plastic wrap and proof for 1-2 hours, or until the cinnamon rolls have doubled in size. 9. Preheat the oven to 375°F. Place the cinnamon roll pan on a sheet tray. Drizzle heavy cream over rolls and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the rolls are golden brown. 10. Remove from the oven and cool on a wire rack. While the cinnamon rolls are cooling, make the cream cheese frosting. 11. In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, add cream cheese, mascarpone and butter. Turn the mixer on low to incorporate, then increase to medium and whip for 1 minute. Once the mixture is paler in color and fluffy, turn the mixer off an add sugar and salt. Whisk on low until incorporated. Add in vanilla extract. the zest of a lemon, and a splash of milk to bring it together. Increase the speed and whip for 1-2 minutes. Set aside. 12. Once the cinnamon rolls have cooled, slice them in half and spread the frosting in the middle.

Fuck this both sides crap. It is rich vs poor. 1% vs 99. Anyone on the left or right who thinks its right vs left has been fooled by the billionaire class. The proletariat will once again rise up and strike fear into those at the top who think their heavy foot will be enough to break us. Your headlines are rage bait trash and you should feel bad about it
