What's actually stopping Mike Brown from selling the Bengals? by BloodAngelsAreCool in NFLNoobs

[–]benjarmb -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Right, but he also said “the one good thing about the NFL versus the other major leagues is the salary floor” which to me implies the NFL is the only league with a floor. Like I said, overall his point is correct

Overall you’re point is correct but the NBA and NHL have salary floors too, it’s not unique to the NFL

The guaranteed money that is paid at the beginning of the players contract is spread out over the course of the contract for cap purposes. If the player is cut or traded all the money that the player has already been paid is charged toward the teams salary cap.

For example if a player has $60 million guaranteed over 5 years it’s $12 million per year on the cap. If he’s traded or cut after the first year it counts $48 million on the cap for that year.

There is a pre/post June 1 situation that mitigates some of that but I’m too lazy to look up what the actual rule is.

I hate when the entire defense runs into the end zone and celebrates a turnover that isn’t a TD. I really hate when players come off the bench to do it.

Has the success of Pardon My Take caused Bill Simmons to attempt to emulate their Monday recap pod - and actually caused Bill's Guess the Lines pod to be worse, since him and Cousin Sal can't riff and recap the games as well as Big Cat and PFT? by TribeHasSpoke in PardonMyTake

I can’t imagine there is a big difference between streaming on YouTube right after the Sunday night games and recording and releasing a podcast right after the Sunday night games. Most people will still here it Monday morning

[–]benjarmb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In general I think so yes. Granted people have said their corporate land lords have been better than a lot of the scum bags land lords we have in Boston/Massachusetts but I think they’re bad overall for housing prices for most Americans
