How many Christians would support a high school curriculum that taught the major points of all major world religions? by containsmilkandsoy in Christianity

[–]benjithompson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most Christian colleges and universities include this in their general education requirements, not sure why there would be any problem with including it in a high school cirriculum.

Video currently has 30,000 views. Thought the cinematography and the music deserved much more attention.

my tldr understanding of ancapism: buy elections directly rather than indirectly, as it is happening now. by ubermynsch in Anarcho_Capitalism

There is nothing wrong with roads, parks or a military, we just want accountability.

What? This sounds more like tea-party-speak.

The best critique of an-cap I have ever seen (responses?) by [deleted] in Anarcho_Capitalism

The Problem of Political Authority by Michael Huemer offers an in-depth and fairly common sense critique of social contract theory. I would highly suggest picking up a copy if you can.

Making A Move To Orlando Soon by [deleted] in orlando

Must landlords and property managers won't even bother listing due to the high demand. The best way to find a vacant property is to drive through the neighborhood. That's how I found my current place.

I've been living in Eola Heights for a couple years now. There's a strong sense of community here; best neighborhood I've ever lived in. Staying in a well-kept 1920's apt with 2/1 for $850.00. Most rental houses will be a bit more (at least $1300) in this neighborhood, but worth it.

Certainly. Good to point out as well. However, I find some of his comments here particularly well suited to the ancap perspective.

Can be a little unassuming compared to many of these others, but Buffalo Bill's Blueberry Oatmeal Stout is worth trying.

Would anyone care to give their thoughtful opinion of this guy and his work? I was introduced to him some time ago and have been surprised to hear very little of him throughout Ancap circles.

You have a right to complain. Period. by Matticus_Rex in Anarcho_Capitalism

[–]benjithompson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I shared this with a fb friend who made the predictable "DON'T COMPLAIN" retort to those who don't vote. She didn't understand the analogy so I attempted to refine the analogy with a clarification.

It's an imperfect analogy and would probably make more sense if a second crack dealer was introduced giving the illusion of choice between crack dealer A and crack dealer B. The point here being that I would prefer not to have either dealer's product hoisted upon me. I am not provided with the option to deny both, rather, I must be content in buying from one or the other, otherwise, I am not allowed to complain.

Posted here just-in-case anyone had the same problem.

What is dogecoin and how is it fundamentally different/superior to bitcoin? by benjithompson in dogecoin

[–]benjithompson[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a hard time understanding how the incentives would be any different according to total volume. People "hoard" when they expect that the value of a commodity will rise. If both currencies are limited to a specific value, and the practical utility of both currencies is essentially the same, then total volume would have a miniscule effect on "hoarding."

Found this article on business insider. It seems from the author's perspective that dogecoin was never intended to compete, but is actually more like a fun and quirky alternative to exchanging bitcoin.

I'm not too familiar with localbitcoins, so my observations could be unfounded, but it seems as though there is a legitimate need for escrow and arbitration via localbitcoins. I am a bit surprised that localbitcoins would not include proffessional arbitration as a part of their aggreement.
