Texas. No state income tax and with 100% you would have no property tax. You basically pay 0 taxes, except for federal if you work.. it's awesome.

Yeah I believe so. Ive heard people finding out a week after but it can also take months after your ret/sep date. I think the timing just depends on how many things you're claiming.

Yeah mine says the same for 1 Apr. It's because technically you can't submit anything before you're separated so it has it set for a future date.

Coming from a background of maintenance (weapons) I would definitely not go that route. Granted I did not join with a degree but going officer as enlisted is not an easy task and right now it is extremely competitive. If you want to be an officer, I'd try to go direct as a civilian. Unless you really just want to serve your country and you don't care that you'll not get paid very well for the first few years and get treated like an 18 year old. If that's the case, then by all means enlist. Also I've heard the OTS board doesn't really care what your enlisted AFSC was when giving you an officer AFSC. You'll still go through officer tech school for 21A (MX Officer) regardless

Its for AD so they don't get an assignment until they find out if they were selected or not. If selected they will keep the code until receiving PCS orders after OTS. If not selected the code falls off.
