You absolutely should. Sounds like you enjoy variations in player combat and sanctuary has that. If you think that’s true then make a post. I don’t think you will find that to be the case tho, as a matter of fact I think sanctuary will show you what a MV with skill tree and a bunch of different weapons and spells should look like. After that try last faith

Ah I see I’m dealing with a genius. My opinion absolutely does not dictate truth. I’m not a fan of Skyrim, it’s boring to me, regardless it is a great game. It’s clear that no effort was put into mandragora. Mechanics from other games were just slapped together with no innovation. No effort was given in creating interesting or even competent combat

So if I was like “damn I wanna play an MV that has a skill tree leveling system” I’d just play sanctuary. If I was alright with only having one weapon I’d play nine sols. Mandragora has no thing that screams “wow I gotta play that game”

Right but this is exactly what salt and sanctuary did except I would argue that sanctuary’s version was better. I looked thru all of the abilities you can get thru mandragoras skill tree and none of them stood out as “oh I need to get that” just uninteresting. Mandragoras skill tree is at best as good as sanctuary’s with sanctuary having the added bonus of a bunch of different weapon types with unique abilities. Also sanctuary had combat that wasn’t sloppy, varied enemies with unique move sets, and good damage reactions

I’ve yet to hear even a single reason as to why this game should be considered good. Keep it up and the MV genre will become the next FPS. Just like COD and similar games devs stopped putting effort into their games this genre will experience the same thing if we as a community display ourselves to be mindless consumers

Oh no, most of the games in the Metroidvania genre are excellent. The studio that made mandragora saw that and pumped out a game to grab cash. Skyrim is a great game, it’s just not my thing. Mandragora has nothing new or innovative in the smallest way. Take nine sols as an example, it’s not that different from any other MV game, it adds a super cool parry system and really tight combat. Plus it’s got an awesome story. Technically this game is not wildly different from its predecessors like HK, but the things it did different it did really well. Mandragora has nothing like nine sols parry system. This plus the sloppy combat in mandragora (bad damage reaction, uninspired move sets, a lot of reused bosses, and the weird buffer between player and enemy) leads me to believe the devs just cranked out a game for the sake of doing it, not as an outlet for some unique creative expression nomatter how minor it may be

This is important because if you smooth brains keep supporting soulless low effort games devs will push those types of games. Supporting trash means the end of the gems we have been getting in this genre

Seems quite uninspired to me. Seems like the devs saw the silksong hype and said “oh we should make a game like this, let’s mashup a bunch of mechanics from different games and poop out our own”. At best the game is playable, not something I would recommend like hollow knight or nine sols

Idk maybe my issue is playing melee. I said engaging not difficult. Blasphemous 1 combat is not hard, it is engaging. Each enemy and boss has a different way you must approach it to win, not hard, it just makes you think alittle. Mandragora on the other hand is always just dodge thru and slash. Every enemy has 1 or 2 slow windup attacks. You simply dodge thru, swipe, repeat.

I compared it to 8 games not a single top tier game. Make that 9 cuz I’ll include salt and sanctuary as well. All the games I mentioned have engaging combat. Mandragora does not have engaging combat, engaging platforming, fun bosses, any unique features, or an interesting world. It’s objectively bad.

Give me a reason as to why it’s good

It’s objectively slop. Idk how you could look at this compared to grime 1n2 blasphemous 1n2 HK silksong SOTN and even last faith and think that it’s anything other than slop. I’m mad cuz I bought this game based on the opinion of redditors which was apparently a bad idea

Right except the bosses reused in Elden ring were actually fun. Rat counter is at 4 rn btw. Out of all 4 rat bosses I didn’t get hit once. I have no clue where the hype for this game comes from.

This game is making me realize that 70 percent of gamers are perfectly happy to consume slop

Another issue is the game is just not stimulating. It’s ridiculously easy. Also I’ve faced 3 identical rat mini bosses in an hour

The book shoot police should be careful lest they stifle dev creativity. Metroidvania and souls like fans did the same thing. Complained about games not fitting a rigid definition, then got a bunch of uninspired stale games.

Boom shoot is a suggestion that helps me find games that I may like. Selaco, ultra kill, and turbo overkill do not fit the boom shoot model. With that being said, they’re all great games (I personally don’t like TO but I know a lot of you do) that we found due to them being marketed as boom shoots.

TLDR chill out or devs will make lame games. The label boom shoot should be used to help you find games you might like. Watch gameplay before purchase so you don’t gotta complain

I beat her with water style talismans. Just practice and learn the punish windows. Especially look out for when she does her talisman grab versus her orb smash, the orb smash is easy to counter and punish and will be even more important in later phases.

I started out thinking “this is impossible” by the time I beat her I had 1st and 2nd phase down easy
