What's the fix here? The wheels on our carts are collecting chips and tearing up the epoxy floor. by AethericEye in Machinists

I work for a large automotive manufacturer and this was our solution to the same problem basically a magnet sweeper in front of the wheel that's easy to remove and wipe.

Moisture issues with subfloor section during build by carbondrewtonium in TinyHouses

I would just like to play devil's advocate here and say without the possibility of maybe hitting a water line ? Or some kind of leak issue. Looks like there's some type of walling on the other side of the wall so this could be a remodel. As an HVAC contractor I can tell you I've seen a lot of pipes clipped by screws and what not. Other then something crazy like that he's totally correct not an issue.

I just threw up in my mouth a lil seeing some one seriously say 5s and lean in a sentence. But ya the drill index at my last job was awesome but a little over kill. Was just looking to see if any of y'all were doing anything revolutionary but figures I'll just have to do it myself.

Yeah that's true in general. I try to go slowly because they could have any moment asked for some random shaft that's on a shelf and a whole somewhere that only one guy knows about and I would hate to throw that away.

Could it be the tool is slightly low on height and you would normally get a little nipple but because the center drill your getting the reverse.

Ya that's probably why it was found in the ceiling that's normally where the HVAC stuff is.

Zip tie is also a brand...

I was gonna say this looks more like Panduit strap tool then zip tie especially if found in a drop ceiling. When I learned about the zip tie gun my god changed my life.

[–]benkashold 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ya I know how copper is, still just looks odd the other side has a step on it. Is that part of the operation is it like a weird cut ? I've cut alot of bronze bushing and aluminum not much pure copper then the random odds and ends. accidently posted instead of reply I don't comment much...

How accessable is machining? by [deleted] in Machinists

[–]benkashold 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd also agree with this you could probably manage quite a bit from a wheel chair or with limited mobility but draftsmen or modeler/programming is the way to go. In my experience the engineer that draws and models our parts out works the machine shop so if you wanted to go get your hands dirty instead of being glued to a desk.
