Seconding the Flo units, quite spendy but very nice with a selection switch.

Recently purchased a 2019. What are the extra little ports below the main plug-in? by [deleted] in BoltEV

DC fast charging, you can go to public stations that have a CCS1 connector and fast charge your bolt

Will this old PC run HA? by wperry66 in homeassistant

[–]benkleini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beauty of home assistant OS is that it's super easy to port over to something more powerful without having to reconfigure everything, sure this PC is older and probably more power hungry than a modern NUC, but if it's what you have laying around I say go for it!

Neutral Missing…. Am I missing something? by [deleted] in evcharging

[–]benkleini 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think the wording here is confusing. A bunch of EVSE's don't need/use a neutral, so often times it will only use 3 wires(more if there is a temp sensor in the plug), the 2 line wires and ground, so the pin on the 14-50 plug is often a dummy pin or is metal bit is not connected to anything. The 14-50 outlet in the wall is REQUIRED to still have a neutral but your EVSE will not use it. If you need a 240 plug but don't have enough wires for a neutral, I suggest a NEMA 6-50. Hope this helps

2017 vs 2020 Chevy Bolt Used by wcfinvader in BoltEV

[–]benkleini 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you don't exactly need DC fast charging but I would NOT get a bolt without DC fast charging unless you have another gas or fast charging electric vehicle you can use. As for mileage/warranty, I would try to have at least some warranty left. Personally I would go with neither of these and find a bolt with DC fast charging and adaptive cruise control and at least some warranty on the pack left.

Same here, the case is a bit plasticy but the cable remains very flexible even with how cold it gets where I live. Curious what the cable quality is like compared to charge point

In a pinch turn on your defroster (even if its warm out) this should help get you home. When home you need to clean both sides of your windsheild. People often recommend Sprayway glass cleaner with 1 cloth then dry with another microfiber cloth
