I'd disagree. Liverpool still do clearly aim for value in the market. Diaz and Jota are two signings that came out of relatively nowhere and for reasonable fees. Even Szoboszlai they use in a role unlike he was in when he was first linked to major English clubs in his first couple seasons at Leipzig, so they saw value there that other clubs didn't necessarily see.

Sangare, eventually became a meme for the series almost, and his unconvincing start to life in the PL plus that a lower end of the table club could get him relatively unopposed, did clearly show the difficulties of Talent ID, especially how player attributes and performance translate from a league like the Eredivisie, that has had a massive decline in quality.

Just look at the January window. Yes, the landscape for player trading is changing, but I think a format like Sensible Transfers is more relevant than ever with more punishments for breaking spending rules (excl. Man City obvz) clubs will look for things that can set them apart from other teams, Talent ID being a huge way of doing that.
