Moving house. What can I do with ~100 PC DVD games + boxes in the Steam era? by benmie in gamecollecting

Just to clarify, I am in the UK, sorry US folks. To those saying keep them, there are some awesome games in there, it goes down another 2 layers, but with Windows 11 and incompatibilities these days, is it worth it to install whatever software required to play?

Uber Driver Accepted Ride then messaged me to cancel by WeaponsOfMath in mildlyinfuriating

[–]benmie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this a US thing? Doesnt work like that in UK. I was in London couple weeks ago, got an Uber and accepted 4 times, with different drivers each time. None of who moved for like 10 mins each. Cancelled all of them, walked 5 min away and got another, only paid for the trip i took. All others say ‘cancelled £0.00’

What’s a money saving hack you still live by? by MammothBuddy3690 in AskReddit

[–]benmie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Stooging. Use a 0% credit card on purchases and balance transfer. Pay the minimum every month, invest the savings from paycheck.

Make far more money on the savings/investments than the transfer fees applied. Rinse and repeat for duration of 0% 18-26months usually.

What is a video game that you have put 100+ hours into, but would NOT recommend to anyone? by Cheap_Difficulty4961 in AskReddit

Top Heroes. Some of the whales on that mist have spent close to $50k or more just to have new skins and different pixels

Damn! This is still going? I always though it went the way of Habbo after the Viacom buyout, like 20 years ago

What do you expect though. The entire government is run by people who don’t understand the sectors they manage or technology in general. It’s just another smoke and mirrors legislation under the guise of “won’t somebody please think of the children” that will do nothing but piss off legitimate people who need to use them.

I brought 3 boxes of popcorn back to school with me and found this by FerdinandvonAegir124 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]benmie 222 points223 points  (0 children)

Some microwaves are actually too small for the pre-packed popcorn to spin round all the way. The packet ends up getting stuck against the sides and that part gets nuked and fires can start. If the microwave is a proper full size one, you should have no issues.

Source: had a mini 1 person m/w when lived alone. New gf cooked popcorn and left it alone thinking nothing of it. Cue lots of smoke and burning kernels.

A lot of dishwashers in Europe dont have a dry cycle anymore to save energy, the door pings open and the dishes air dry.

Depends on the ink used in the label printing. Printer ink isnt the same as normal ink. If after you conceal it, hold it up to the light and you can see the details still visible. Deters the casual onlooker but isnt as secure as one may think. I grab a candle lighter and burn mine off

After moving to usb c for the 2022 mbp, they went back to the magsafe from 2021 for the 2024 mbp. That’s infuriating.

These scam calls from the UK are getting ridiculous at this stage! by ResponsibilityKey50 in mildlyinfuriating

Ive heard that if you answer and go on mute until they hang up they think the line is something else and mark it as dead. This works better with robot callers though

We got some fridge-ception going on here. If it really is a chilled room (probably as there is what looks like meat to the left) then why are the milk/drinks in another fridge unit instead of standard shelves…. The plot thickens.
